Hewn Stone in Windrose is, simply put, a fancier version of your average Stone. How to get Hewn Stone in Windrose

To get Hewn Stone in Windrose, you first need to go and discover Ancient Scraps in the Cursed Swamps region. If you're yet to reach this area, go and complete the 'Needle in a Haystack' Main Quest. The first objective for the quest after this takes you straight to the Cursed Swamps!

That said, the Cursed Swamps have a recommended level of Level 13 and its enemies are particularly brutal, so make sure you're prepared.

Ancient Scraps can be mined from the quarries in the region, which are marked with a pickaxe icon on your map (pictured above) once you pass by one. You'll need an Iron Pickaxe or better to farm the stuff and once you do, the Hewn Stone recipe is unlocked.

As a heads up, the first quarry I found was surrounded by a rot/poison status effect that builds over time, so have fun with that! You might also find some Ancient Scraps to mine in unmarked ruins across the Cursed Swamps islands, but again, prepare for them to be guarded by enemies.

After discovering Ancient Scraps, you can use a Level 3 Workbench to craft Hewn Stone, with each piece of Hewn Stone costing you three Stone to craft.

How to use Hewn Stone in Windrose

Hewn Stone is used to craft the Large Smelting Furnace in Windrose, which you'll eventually need to be able to craft Mire Metal Ingots using Ancient Scraps. These are vital for late-game crafting recipes and upgrades.

Hewn Stone is also necessary for upgrading your Weaponsmith and Shipwright's Workshop as it is needed to build the Bellows.
