Windrose is quite difficult at the best of times, especially if you're playing in a small party or solo, and even more so as you progress towards the Cursed Swamps region and beyond. That's why you need one of the best weapons to help you with taking down the Plague enemies in this region, and later, it's main threat and final boss.

To help you make light work of hostile creatures and enemies across the sea, here's some of the best Windrose weapons listed alongside their unique skills, stats, and crafting recipes. For what it's worth, this page focuses on melee weapons only for now.

Best Weapons in Windrose

I've listed some of the best weapons to try and get your hands on in Windrose below, and fortunately, one of them is a guaranteed drop! Let's start with that one.

On this page:

Soul Eater

The Soul Eater is one of few weapons in Windrose where you can guarantee exactly when and where you get it, as it's a reward from defeating Foothills' final boss, Hands. It's a fast weapon that gnaws on the Health of enemies, and those of us pumping stats into Vitality will reap even more benefits from this weapon at Epic rarity, given that its special attack Damage scales with that.

Soul Eater dishes out 325 Slash Damage and its stats and skills at different rarities are as follows:

Grade Stat Skill
Rare Agility C This weapon has a special attack that drains Health from nearby enemies. Cooldown: 3 minutes.
Epic Agility B Special attack Damage additionally scales with Vitality.

Note that the second skill becomes available once you Ascend the weapon to Epic rarity, and it does not replace the first skill. At Epic rarity, you get to benefit from both skills at once and better stat scaling!

Once you touch this weapon once, you'll unlock the crafting recipe for it at your Weaponsmith Workshop. Here's exactly what you need to craft this weapon at different levels:

Weapon Level Crafting Recipe
Level 1 Soul Eater
  • 10x Copper Ingots
  • 2x Rough Hides
  • 7x Undead Essence
  • Workbench Level 1 required
Level 6 Soul Eater
  • 10x Iron Ingots
  • 2x Rough Hides
  • 10x Undead Essence
  • 3x Smithing Flux
  • Workbench Level 2 required
Level 11 Soul Eater
  • 10x Mire Metal Ingots
  • 2x Crocodile Hides
  • 10x Undead Essence
  • 3x Smithing Flux
  • Workbench Level 3 required

Executioner

The Executioner possesses one of the highest damage outputs in Windrose at the time of writing, capable of dishing out 365 Crude Damage. As a Strength weapon, this halberd hits hard but prepare for it to be slower than the likes of the Soul Eater and Rapier of Devastation.

The Executioner's stats and skills at different rarities are as follows:

Grade Stat Skill
Rare Strength C Killing enemies grants Decimation effect which stacks. Each stack increases your Critical Hit chance by 10%, up to a maximum of 30%.
Epic Strength B While Decimation is active, you gain the Apathy effect, granting 10% Damage Resistance.

Here's exactly what you need to craft this weapon at different levels:

Weapon Level Crafting Recipe
Level 1 Executioner
  • 10x Wood
  • 7x Copper Ingot
  • Workshop Level 1 required
Level 6 Executioner
  • 12x Hardwood
  • 5x Iron Ingot
  • 3x Smithing Flux
  • Workshop Level 2 required
Level 11 Executioner
  • 8x Hardwood
  • 7x Mire Metal Ingots
  • 3x Smithing Flux
  • Workshop Level 3 required

Rapier of Devastation

The Rapier of Devastation is another fast weapon that dishes out 365 Crude Damage. It also applies marks to enemies that stack when light attacking, which can then be used to unleash a heavy attack that deals additional damage.

I found this particular weapon on a skeleton in one of the Cursed Swamps 'Ruin with a Flowerbed' POIs, but it is ultimately a randomised drop that could appear in chests anywhere. Though, it seems you're more likely to find these higher-level weapons across Cursed Swamps.

The Rapier of Devastation's stats and skills at different rarities are as follows:

Grade Stat Skill
Rare Strength C Light Attacks apply up to 8 Plague Marks. Heavy Attacks consume all accumulated marks, dealing Bonus damage for each.
Epic Strength B If Heavy Attack consumes more than 5 marks, you restore 40% of your Maximum Health.

Here's exactly what you need to craft this weapon at different levels:

Weapon Level Crafting Recipe
Level 1 Rapier of Devastation
  • 3x Copper Ingots
  • 2x Rough Hides
  • 5x Ingot Arborum
  • Workshop Level 1 required
Level 6 Rapier of Devastation
  • 3x Iron Ingots
  • 2x Rough Hides
  • 8x Ingot Arborum
  • 3x Smithing Flux
  • Workshop Level 2 required
Level 11 Rapier of Devastation
  • 3x Mire Metal Ingots
  • 2x Crocodile Hides
  • 8x Ingot Arborum
  • 3x Smithing Flux
  • Workshop Level 3 required

Plague Halberd

The Plague Halberd is an exceptional Strength weapon, and one that – at Epic rarity – will help with restoring your health while in battle too.

This is particularly useful for someone like me who gets far too carried away hitting enemies and then is knocked dead before they know it. It also dishes out an obscene 355 Crude Damage while also allowing you to use a special attack that deals AoE damage; it's this attack that heals you too!

The Plague Halberd's stats and skills at different rarities are as follows:

Grade Stat Skill
Rare Strength C Dealing Damage grants you a stack of Plague Echoes. At 5 stacks, the special attack becomes available.
Epic Strength B Using the special attack instantly restores 35% of your maximum Health.

I sadly haven't yet gotten my hands on a Plague Halberd despite scouring ruins galore across Cursed Swamps, but I'll update this page with the crafting recipe for it once I do.

Good luck getting your hands on some strong weaponry in Windrose. For more, take a look at how to get Bromeliad, where to find the People of Tortuga Buyer, and how to get the Frigate ship.
