Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Mii ideas
Here's an abundance of different Mii ideas to help fill your island out with all kinds of characters.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream allows you to host a maximum of 70 Miis on your island and as a result, you're likely to find yourself stumped for new Mii ideas sooner or later. Fortunately, I've spent an almost shameful amount of time making Mii's and discovering community-created characters to share with those of you searching for some much-needed inspiration.
Here's plenty of Mii ideas for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, including characters from video games, television, movies, and other notable figures.
On this page:
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Mii ideas
Before I go about sharing some of the Mii's that I have spent far too much time creating in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, it's worth noting that a lot of my Mii's are forged from ideas from the community across Reddit, Instagram, and most importantly, TomodachiShare.
TomodachiShare is an exceptional resource for finding Mii's to try creating in your own island, with players worldwide sharing their creations alongside step-by-step tutorials on how to make them. I can't recommend it enough if you're in need of some inspiration, or have an idea for a Mii and don't know where to begin with making them.
Below, I've shared some of my own Mii's that you could try to recreate (and no doubt do a better job of recreating too) alongside some of my favourite creations from TomodachiShare. I've organised these based on categories of where each Mii is from to help those of you who have themed islands!
Video Game Miis
The below Mii ideas come from video games far and wide.
Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Ada Wong
Surprising absolutely no one, the first Mii that I made in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was Leon Kennedy. More specifically, Resident Evil 4 Leon Kennedy, alongside the beloved Ada Wong (also the Resident Evil 4 version). Chris Redfield was introduced a little later and I used the Resident Evil 5 version of him as a reference so that I could make him and his fellow Mii friends talk about punching boulders regularly.
You could go all out and turn your island into Raccoon City by inviting the likes of Albert Wesker, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine and more into the fray! I'm trying to hold off on doing that for now…
If you fancy your hand at making Leon, Chris, and Ada, my versions are pictured below. Alternatively, here's Resident Evil Requiem Leon on TomodachiShare, as well as a much better Chris Redfield and Ada Wong.
Cooking Mama
Everyone's favourite video game chef makes an adorable addition to any island, especially given that you can give your Mii's kitchen-themed homes and so forth. On my island, Cooking Mama baked a cake to confess her love to a fellow island inhabitant (Human Ditto, if you must know) and it was a great moment.
Here's Cooking Mama on TomodachiShare.
Lara Croft
I really liked the idea of Tomb Raider's Lara Croft practicing martial arts with Leon Kennedy or talking about punching boulders with Chris Redfield, and I was not disappointed. To complete the look, I just need to draw some dual pistols for her to carry around now.
Here's a version of Lara Croft on TomodachiShare that puts mine (pictured below) to shame.
Agent 47
Agent 47 is a very easy addition to any island. Just create a stoic-looking bald man, put him in a suit, and you're good to go. Spare him any expressions, give him the Perfectionist personality, and you've got Hitman's cold-hearted assassin perfected. Fortunately, he doesn't tend to kill innocent folk so your idyllic island is safe from his usual escapades.
Professor Layton and Katrielle Layton
Professor Layton isn't exactly Professor Layton until he has his famous tophat, but the Where & Wear Shop in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is yet to hand over the perfect hat for this Mii. Once it does however, you can't deny he looks pretty good!
I decided to also create his daughter, Katrielle Layton, to accompany him as there was a severe lack of families on my island. You could even try creating his trusty sidekick Luke Triton too if you're a fan!
Here's Professor Layton on TomodachiShare.
Connor RK800
Why not have Connor from Detroit Become Human cutting about your island? He fits into Tomodachi Life's chaotic atmosphere better than you'd expect.
All credit for this particular idea goes to the u/andythepancake11 on Reddit who did a much better job of creating this character than I did. If you check out their post, they made a whole range of Detroit Become Human characters you can take inspiration from.
Adoring Fan
Hear me out. I am well aware that the Adoring Fan is, simply put, rather annoying. So annoying in fact that it's perhaps hard to comprehend why someone would actively create them in another game (looking pensively at Starfield right now). Well, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is all about letting chaos ensue and relationships evolve, and Adoring Fan is definitely an interesting character to throw into this mixer. He's also very easy to make and very recognisable.
Here's the Adoring Fan on TomodachiShare. This creator chose a much more suitable haircut for him than I did.
Matt
If you spent any time at all playing Wii Sports – specifically the boxing part of the game – you'll be very familiar with Matt. He might be your biggest enemy or perhaps he's one of the first mentors you remember after multiple rounds in the ring. I say oldest, because Wii Sports released back in 2006, which has made me realise Matt was perhaps my introduction to boxing as a sport and now I feel very old while writing this.
Here's Matt on TomodachiShare.
Human Ditto and other Pokémon
You could go ahead and make an entire Pokédex in Tomodachi Life if you feel like it. Well, your own personal Pokédex of 70 fan-favourites anyway, given that's the maximum amount of Miis your island can host. Human Ditto was my first Pokémon-themed addition to my island, but players worldwide have created some amazing Miis of all kinds of Pokémon.
Here are some of my favourites from TomodachiShare:
- Human Ditto
- Pikachu
- Gardevoir
- Incineroar
- Piplup
- Leafeon
- Umbreon
- Vaporeon
- Sylveon
- Espurr
- Quagsire
- Cincinno
Pokemon Champion Cynthia and other Pokemon Trainers
If creating Mii's of small creatures isn't on the cards for you, why not try your hand at creating Pokemon Trainers and Champions instead? TomodachiShare is already host to a huge range of fan-favourites and I've made my very own Cynthia as a result, but you could also make Ash Ketchum, Marnie, Arven, and more.
Again, here are some of my favourites from TomodachiShare:
Shadow the Hedgehog
Shadow the Hedgehog and the below few characters aren't the easiest to create as they require you to do some Face Paint drawing on your Switch, which is easier said than done unless you have a suitable stylus to hand. Alas, the artistic endeavours are well worth it to have Shadow the Hedgehog roaming your island.
Here's Shadow the Hedgehog on TomodachiShare.
KK Slider and Isabelle
Tomodachi Life has received a lot of comparisons with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so it feels rather apt to introduce the likes of Isabelle and KK Slider into the mix. You can even give KK Slider a Guitar Prezzie and have him serenade your other islanders, just like New Horizons.
Here's Isabelle on TomodachiShare, and here's KK Slider on TomodachiShare.
Red, Blue, and Yellow Pikmin
You might've already seen some of the community create Pikmin as pets, which is an idea I personally cannot wait to recreate, but did you know you could make Pikmin Mii's instead if you fancy? Below, I've linked Pikmin of varying colours on TomodachiShare for you to recreate:
Parappa
Get yourself a Spotlight set up and let Parappa (from rhythm game Parappa the Rapper) take to it. This musically-talented pup can bring a little rhythm, be it by singing or dancing, to any island if you give him the means to start a show. You could even encourage him to perform with Animal Crossing's KK Slider with some luck!
Here's Parappa on TomodachiShare.
Phoenix Wright
Need someone to help put an end to all the squabbling or crimes against humanity on your island? Phoenix Wright from Capcom's Ace Attorney series fits the bill perfectly. You can even have him shout 'Objection!' at every minor inconvenience using Expressions.
Here's Phoenix Wright on TomodachiShare.
Link and Princess Zelda
While it might feel a little strange giving a voice to Link in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, it can make for some amusing scenarios, especially if you have him quoting his various exclamations from over the years such as "HAAAA!" and "Hyup!". And you certainly can't have Link without Princess Zelda!
Here's Link on TomodachiShare, and Zelda on TomodachiShare.
Mario and co.
I'd be doing this list of Mii ideas a real disservice if I didn't make mention of Nintendo's most popular flagship characters, and that's Mario and his crew.
Here's some Mario characters on TomodachiShare for you to try creating:
Krobus
You could make all manner of Stardew Valley characters on your island, turning Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream into yet another rendition of Pelican Town if you so please. Though if you're stuck for which Stardew Valley villagers to invite into your world first, why not start with the sewer-dwelling Krobus? He makes a pretty good roommate in Stardew Valley, so perhaps he'll be a good one here too!
Here's Krobus on TomodachiShare.
Bayonetta
Who better to give the Karate 101 and Muscle Building 101 DVDs to than Bayonetta? With this Mii and some suitable Prezzies or Expressions, you've got yourself one badass, gun-slinging, and incredibly fashionable Mii on your island.
Here's Bayonetta on TomodachiShare.
TV Series Miis
The below Mii ideas come from popular TV shows.
Dr. Gregory House and Dr. James Wilson
Dr. Gregory House and Dr. James Wilson from House M.D. have a particularly unique on-screen friendship where, at any given moment, they could be enemies, lovers, best friends, or brothers. This translates into Tomodachi Life incredibly well, especially if you can convince the pair to become best friends and move in with one another like I did!
Here's House on TomodachiShare, and Wilson on TomodachiShare.
Walter White and Jesse Pinkman
Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are the stars of Breaking Bad, which sees the chemistry teacher – Mr. White – desperately trying to pay off his medical debts by getting into the business of making illicit substances. This line of business is not quite on the cards on your rather idyllic island in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, but there's nothing stopping you from creating items and interiors that help you get this duo back in the lab…
Here's Walter White on TomodachiShare, and Jesse Pinkman on TomodachiShare.
Mark Scout and Helly R.
Mark Scout and Helly R. are from sci-fi TV show Severance, which I highly recommend to anyone who'll listen. It's a show that'll have you on the edge of your seat throughout as you learn more about the dystopian work lives its characters, including stars of the show Mark and Helly, are experiencing. You could invite the whole cast – Dylan, Irving, Milchick – onto your island too if you wanted!
Here's Mark Scout on TomodachiShare, and Helly R. on TomodachiShare.
Finn the Human and Jake the Dog
Fans of Adventure Time will no doubt want this iconic duo – Finn the Human and Jake the Dog – added to their island. But why not go all in and add the likes of Princess Bubblegum and Marceline too? I've linked all characters on TomodachiShare below:
90s Cartoon Icons
This particular Reddit user has created some incredible Miis of various 90s cartoon characters that I've embedded below. There's the Powerpuff Girls with Professor Utonium, Daria and Jane from Daria, and Courage the Cowardly Dog alongside his two owners, Muriel and Eustace.
Movie Miis
The below Mii ideas come from cult classic movies.
The Dude
Perhaps one of the more niche inclusions on this list, The Dude is from the crime/comedy movie The Big Lebowski. He initially moved into my island after I was dead set on having Steve Buscemi as a Mii, but then I gave up and my mind immediately began thinking of The Big Lebowski's cast (which Steve Buscemi is a part of). As a result, The Dude (Jeff Bridges) was born as a Mii.
If you make The Dude, don't forget to invite his partner-in-crime Walter Sobchak (John Goodman) too!
Here's The Dude on TomodachiShare.
Ellen Ripley
Ellen Ripley is the main character in the Alien series, played by Sigourney Weaver. After I had my island of Mii's discussing their fondness of the Xenomorph, it only felt right that I had Ellen Ripley move in to give them all a proper education on the creature.
Here's Ellen Ripley on TomodachiShare.
Coraline
The eponymous Coraline is a very easy Mii to make when filling out your island in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, if you decide to forgo giving her buttons for eyes that is. If you'd rather her doppelgänger move onto your island though, be prepared to spend some time getting those button eyes just right!
Here's Coraline on TomodachiShare.
Shrek
With a little bit of Face Paint, you can move Shrek onto your island. If you want to go wild with it, you could even put your artistic skills to the test and try creating him a house exterior that resembles his swamp. That's one way to spruce up your island while having an array of unique Mii's wandering around!
Here's Shrek on TomodachiShare.
Chihiro
Chihiro Ogino is the main character of Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away and a great addition to your island if you need a little more whimsy and magic across your shores. You could even add her family and Haru too if, like me, your island is short on families or related Mii's.
Here's Chihiro on TomodachiShare.
Notable Figure Miis
The below Mii ideas consist of notable figures, and those who have previously been popular in Tomodachi Life.
Hugh Morris
The fan-favourite character from the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream trailers, Hugh Morris, is easily made. Getting the correct outfit to kit him out in and really complete his look is the main challenge here, given the random nature of the clothing store. Alas, as soon as you've a clown outfit ready to put this Mii in, you've your very own Hugh Morris to charm the pants off everyone.
Here's Hugh Morris on TomodachiShare.
Barack Obama
If you've been following Tomodachi Life since its conception, you'll no doubt be familiar with various clips involving Barack Obama's tales of love and loss amongst the apartments. Now, you can create your own story on your island for Obama with this Mii.
Here's Barack Obama on TomodachiShare.
Hatsune Miku
Are you really playing Tomodachi Life if you don't have Hatsune Miku shouting "Miku, Miku, oo-ee-oo" around your island? The answer is yes because you can play Tomodachi Life however the hell you want, but I'd argue that this vocaloid – if you make the most of her music's catchiest lines and pitch her voice up – makes a very amusing addition to an island.
You can try recreating my Hatsune Miku below, or if you're more artistically inclined, here's Hatsune Miku on TomodachiShare.
Jennifer Coolidge
Jennifer Coolidge is quite the icon among comedy movies. Rising to fame via American Pie, Austin Powers, and eventually Legally Blonde, though younger moviegoers may be more familiar with her roles in A Minecraft Movie and The Emoji Movie.
Here's Jennifer Coolidge on TomodachiShare.
Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson was Twilight's leading star, before he eventually started trying to do everything possible to distance himself from the project. He's been rather successful at that too, eventually landing himself a role as Bruce Wayne himself in The Batman.
Here's Robert Pattinson on TomodachiShare.
Morgan Freeman
Whether you know Morgan Freeman from Million Dollar Baby, The Shawshank Redemption, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, or simply as the voice of God in Bruce Almighty, this acting legend makes a great addition to any island especially if you employ some of his most iconic lines as Expressions.
Here's Morgan Freeman on TomodachiShare.
Bratz
The Bratz dolls - Cloe, Jade, Sasha, and Yasmin - first came to life in 2001 as physical dolls created by Mattel. Since then, and much like their Barbie counterpart, they've had multiple TV shows, movies, and video games follow suit. They're household names and general fashion icons, and they can move into your Tomodachi Life island if you take inspiration from this player's incredible creation, which they shared on Reddit.
John Tomodachi
One very creative player on Reddit has dedicated a lot of time to personifying and creating Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream as a Mii, also known as John Tomodachi. It's impressive to say the least! Good luck trying to recreate this one though, as there's an awful lot of detail involved... You could say it's well worth it to have a creation like this living on your island!
Be sure to tell us more about your own Miis too! I'd love to hear about them. For more on Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream in the meantime, check out all Mii personalities and how to make Mii's break up.
