Volker Rath shared thisLooking back on last week, three words come to mind: aligned, connected, trusted. After a day of reflection and sharing insights with executives from our customer advisory council, we kicked off Cloudflare Connect Sydney 2026, our biggest ever event in Australia. Stephanie Cohen (Chief Strategy Officer) and Grant Bourzikas (Chief Security Officer) shared how to globally deploy, secure, and govern scalable Agentic AI capabilities on our Cloudflare platform. Grant shared how his team built 200 security agents that significantly changed the needle in our compliance, threat, and vulnerability management performance. Speed and agility is key in the AI era. I learned a lot from our global infrastructure and developer platform leaders and realized that AI agents shouldn't live in cluttered landing zones but in optimized, high-performance isolates hosted on a purpose-built platform that allows developers to move fast, securely, and cost-effectively. Amongst many other influential leaders, we were lucky to have Sharon Goldberg ("Chief PQC Guru"). She helps regulators, governments, and critical infrastructure companies globally prepare for post-quantum cryptography and authentication. I feel fortunate to support her on this mission in our region. We need to start planning for PQC now! Because the old definition of smart — technical, analytical, problem-solving — is exactly what AI automates first. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆. His real definition of smart? People who sit at the intersection of technical depth, empathy, and the ability to infer the unspoken. 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀. This should concern every board filling leadership roles. If you hire for IQ and technical credentials, titles alone, you are optimising for the skill AI replaces fastest. If you hire for judgment, context, and the ability to read what no one says out loud — you are building the team AI cannot replicate. This is how you get value for money from AI.Volker Rath shared this- I know we've all seen image a hundred times. - I also know LinkedIn isn't the natural home for technical content. But today I want to break these rules - I just published my first dev.to article, and I wrote it after solving a problem I actually hit. Quick story: I was experimenting with a OpenClaw AI Assistant, topped up my Anthropic account with 20 EUR to give it a try. Couple of prompts later, the balance was gone. That moment forced me to think how to optimize it: if every request to the same frontier model - cash burns. "Write a script on TypeScript" and "Hi" pay the same price. And the trivial prompts dominate real usage. So I built a Cloudflare Worker that classifies each prompt on the fly and routes it to the right model: → Coding questions → Claude Sonnet 4.6 → Everything else → a cheap open model on Cloudflare Workers AI (Kimi-K2) ~50 lines of TypeScript. Unified logs in Cloudflare AI Gateway. The client only sees one endpoint - routing is dynamic and invisible. On a realistic 70/30 traffic mix, this cuts LLM spend by ~60-70% versus sending everything to Claude - without dropping quality on the prompts that actually need it. There are a lot of firsts: First trip to Israel. First time meeting the Koda team face-to-face. First chance to dig in and absorb all we’re building up close. Today I’m taking one of my biggest first steps on this new adventure, and I could not be more excited. I’ll be posting as the week goes. If you know Tel Aviv, drop a recommendation in the comments. On September 24 2026, I will host a dedicated and hands-on Agentic Security Workshop day at our Cloudflare offices in Munich. Our own Chief Security Officer Grant Bourzikas will provide direct insights into our learnings of being part of #Glasswing and #Daybreak and how we are leveraging AI Frontier Lab models as well as self hosted open weight models within our own Security teams. And then, we will build! We will run labs where we'll give the attendees the tools and the environment to actually build Agentic Security Harnesses for Vulnerability Management as well as Security Incident Response Triage (SIRT). We're doing this to give the tools and provide the knowledge to all the defenders and leaders out there, to protect their systems and assets against the increasing threat that is AI-powered cyber attacks.
