Pat Breen shared thisCloudflare Connect on Tour in Sydney (APAC) is just 2 weeks out, and I'm super excited to have Stephanie Cohen (Chief Strategy Officer) and Grant Bourzikas (CISO) headlining alongside a strong line-up of superstars. Here's why that's relevant: CISOs are in a race against time — frontier AI attacks scale exponentially, but defensive architectures don't. The gap between attacker capability and enterprise readiness is the conversation: APIs as the new perimeter, hyper-volumetric DDoS and compliance frameworks that need to keep up with the new reality. July 30 will be about real strategies from peers who are closing that gap, and what's actually deployable before the next wave hits. See you in Sydney! https://lnkd.in/gB6ye-f9 Goran Risticevic George Koulos Ciaran Bolton Karen Schuman Jade Porter Sriram Ve Patrick Leung Elliot Delf Allen Bradley Prayna Prasad Volker Rath

Pat Breen shared thisEngaging conversation with Stephanie Cohen on how Cloudflare is supporting creators govern and monetise their content as AI internet traffic continues to grow.Pat Breen shared thisWhat an amazing time it was at the DLD Future Hub in Munich! Thank you Steffi Czerny and the DLD Conference team for inviting me to speak in partnership with BAIOSPHERE! I was honored to join Dr. Marc Al-Hames for “The Golden Age of Content: Working Together to Build a Sustainable Ecosystem in the Age of AI.” As the business model of the Internet evolves given the dramatic changes in how people learn and discover new information, we must ensure that a healthy ecosystem emerges. At Cloudflare, we are working hard to make it possible for both content providers and AI to thrive, unlocking a true golden age of content creation. https://lnkd.in/gCKqMTppThe Golden Age of Content (Cohen, Al-Hames) | DLD Future Hub 25The Golden Age of Content (Cohen, Al-Hames) | DLD Future Hub 25

Pat Breen posted thisAt my best, I wake up knowing I can make an impact—and that’s exactly how I feel right now. I’ve just wrapped my first week at Cloudflare as Area Vice President for Australia & New Zealand. It coincided with Immerse in Sydney, where I met so many team members, partners and customers. I left feeling energised and focused, with a clear sense of the work ahead, but also knowing I must inspire in others the impact they can make for us. I’m proud to have joined a company on a mission to help build a better Internet. I’ve long known Cloudflare in the security space, but hearing from our customers and partners using our developer platform has opened up a world of possibilities of what outcomes we can help our customers achieve with our platform. Literally too many people to thank and acknowledge, but a few shout-outs: Goran Risticevic for getting the conversation rolling, James Allworth for connecting me to the culture, Matthew Prince for helping me see the bigger picture in the Investor Day Q&A, Mark Anderson for answering all my questions, as well as Jade Porter, George Koulos, Ciaran Bolton, Karen Schuman, Amanda Spencer, Deborah Parkes and Chris Barnet for the time to get me up to speed on the business this week. Bring on day 6!

Pat Breen shared thisWhile my old team is celebrating the start to a a new financial year at Kickoff in Las Vegas, I'm reflecting on one of my favourite moments at Splunk after I had been onboard for close to a year and I was having my first Splunk APAC kickoff experience in Bangkok. After almost 3.5 years working with teams supporting Splunk's Strategic and New Zealand accounts, my time at Cisco/Splunk has come to an end, and right now I am getting a week of downtime to reset before my new chapter. I'll always be grateful for this experience, and particularly to the teams that I've been fortunate to work with, as well as my RSD and SE Leader peers, and the execs within Splunk who have given me their support. See you on the other side!

Pat Breen shared thisThe longer I am at Splunk, the more I appreciate the incredible discussions this technology creates with customers across the whole breadth and depth of the market - from Security to Supply Chain to OT. This is a great opportunity for a strategic thinker to have these conversations in some of Splunk's high profile multi-national accounts.Pat Breen shared thisSplunk is looking for a Strategic Account Manager to join our Financial Services Team in Victoria

Pat Breen shared thisEnd of an era. I am so thankful for my opportunities at NetApp over the last 18 years, and will definitely miss my friends (family) in the Australian business, as well as the relationships built with many partners and customers over that time. I wish them all the best for the future. Now looking forward to starting my new challenge shortly...

Pat Breen shared thisIf you thought it was a little cold in Melbourne a few days last week with the Arctic blast, this article is a reminder that it was colder for some others. A fair question on whether shelter in our lucky country should be a right or a privilege.Pat Breen shared thisAs winter arrives in Australia, our thoughts shift to those who wont have a warm bed because they are homeless. We know that COVID exacerbated what was already a significant problem. As recently as this week, the Victorian lockdown is expected make this winter even more dire for some. This month, leaders, teams and individuals will sleep rough for a night to raise funds for the homeless. I learnt a lot about this crisis in my first sleepout so I thought I would reshare the story below. If you would like to know more about the event, here is a link. https://lnkd.in/g3AJ7tc Stay warm #ceosleepout https://lnkd.in/gnEp4K8

Pat Breen liked thisPat Breen liked thisBuilding the Foundation for the Agentic Enterprise AI is accelerating how enterprises build, operate, and compete. But as AI agents begin making decisions at machine speed, the fundamentals of connectivity, cybersecurity, visibility, and digital trust become more important - not less. In our latest Leader Interview, Pat Breen, Area Vice President, Australia and New Zealand at Cloudflare, shares his perspective on: → Why technology is rarely the hardest part of digital transformation—the real challenge is helping organizations move forward with confidence → Why business leaders need to work backwards from strategic outcomes rather than forwards from product features → How AI-powered cyber threats, supply chain risks, and post-quantum computing are reshaping enterprise resilience → Why organizations are shifting from simply consuming software to building their own solutions → Why organizational IP and data are becoming board-level issues as AI changes how information is scraped, modelled, and reused → Why networking and cybersecurity can no longer be treated as separate conversations → How AI is forcing organizations to rethink job descriptions, planning cycles, and the role of human judgment → Why SaaS is increasingly starting to look more like PaaS as organizations seek greater access to APIs, data models, and underlying capabilities → Why AI-generated code, no-code automations, and connected APIs are creating new security challenges → Why digital trust starts with visibility into what you're running, where it came from, and who can access it → Why Zero Trust is becoming a practical response to an environment where traditional boundaries no longer exist → Why security needs to become a design requirement from day one rather than something addressed at the end of development → What leaders need to get right before building toward an agentic Internet One idea from Pat particularly stands out: “You can’t secure what you don’t understand.” As enterprises increasingly combine AI-generated code, APIs, automation, cloud environments, and intelligent agents, understanding the technology environment becomes foundational to securing it. And Pat’s broader message is equally clear: build the foundation first, then build the future on top of it. If you're working across AI, cybersecurity, enterprise technology, digital transformation, cloud, or technology leadership, this is a conversation worth reading. We recently hosted MIT Sloan's Dr Renée Richardson Gosline, whose research explores "beneficial friction", deliberate moments in AI-enabled workflows that encourage critical thinking and reduce over-reliance on AI. Insights like these are invaluable as we continue to collaborate with leading research institutions to better understand human-AI interaction and how organisations can build trustworthy, effective AI systems. I was lucky to join the industry panel with A/Prof Khandakar Ahmed, Dr Assefa Kassa Teshome, PhD and our fantastic Western Health VU interns Saurav Shahi & Jordan Cabello. Big thank you to the Women in Tech VU team for co-moderating with their President Madhuri Yerra and joined by Moénika H.. It was great to hear the questions students and parents raised navigating the complexity around what AI means for today’s student. Also thanks to Alison Whan for welcoming me back for another fun year.

Pat Breen liked thisPat Breen liked thisA New Chapter I’m excited to share that I’ve joined Cloudburst as General Manager. For around three quarters of my career, I’ve worked for software vendors, spending a significant amount of that time working closely with partners and customers. I now have the opportunity to see the industry from the other side of the table, leading from a vendor partner perspective. What particularly excites me about this next chapter is the opportunity to focus on solving customer business problems through broad solutions, rather than being tied to the capabilities or priorities of a single vendor. With Cyber Security and AI at the core of what we do, with supporting software and hardware solutions, there is a huge opportunity to bring together the right technologies and expertise to deliver meaningful outcomes for our customers. I’m really looking forward to working with the Cloudburst team, our customers and our technology partners as we build the next chapter of the business. A big thank you to Chris Palmer for the opportunity and the confidence in me. I’m excited about what’s ahead! #Cloudburst #CyberSecurity #AI #Technology #Partners #Leadership Norman Deery

Pat Breen liked thisPat Breen liked this“If you have someone’s back, don’t keep it a secret.” I am often asked what attributes of leadership I most admire. Two at the top are authenticity and empathy. A third is the ability to recognize the importance of your most important contributors. The key to the third point is to let them know how important they are to you, how much you value them and to let them know you have their back. You never know what someone is going through or when they need a positive word. I do know that you cannot say thank you too much. If you have someone’s back, don’t keep it a secret. Who do you feel that way about and when was the last time that you told them? If it’s been awhile, you can change that right now.

Last week DNX Solutions, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Red Hat led an exclusive executive roundtable at The Gallery, Park Hyatt Sydney, facilitated by ADAPT. . DNX GM and CTO Kelly Griffin and Vincent Hardy, Red Hat’s Partner Development Manager, guided the discussion with senior technology and business leaders across sectors. Both are hands-on with modernisation programs every day, which set the tone for an honest, practical conversation about what actually drives outcomes. . The focus areas were clear: ✅ defining the right IT priorities, proving ROI, ✅ using AI meaningfully in business, and ✅ managing security and compliance risk as AI adoption accelerates. . The message from the room: modernise with purpose and connect every initiative back to measurable business outcomes. Organisations doing this well are already seeing stronger margins, increased customer trust, and faster paths to innovation. . A big thank you to Pat Stanton, AWS’s ANZ GTM Lead for Infra Migration & Modernisation, for joining in and bringing strong observations from the field. To ADAPT’s Peter Hind, much appreciation for facilitating the conversation; your insights from past roundtables and current market signals are invaluable. .
