Clefable is one of the most reliable Fairy-types that you can get in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but there is only one way to get the Clefairy evolution during the majority of the campaign. Until you’ve nearly beaten it, you’ll need one special item that’s only obtainable in a few places within Lumiose City.
What’s more, as players see when battling Jacinthe during the game’s story, being able to Mega Evolve Clefable makes it even more of a dazzling powerhouse, but the Clefablite Mega Stone has a particular unlock requirement as well. To add Clefable to your Legends: Z-A Pokedex, and put its Mega Stone in your Satchel, here’s everything you need to know.
How To Get Clefable
Throughout most of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the only way to get Clefable is by evolving Clefairy using a Moon Stone. Like with many other Pokemon RPGs over from the years, you just need to select the Moon Stone in your bag (in this case, your Satchel), select the option to ‘Use’ it, select a Clefairy in your Legends Z-A party, and the evolution process will take place right away.
While it may seem like an extra chore needing to hunt down a certain item to evolve a Pokemon instead of leveling it up, the bright side to using any of the evolution stones in Legends: Z-A is that you can use them no matter what level your chosen Pokemon is. That means less of a grind when you catch a Clefairy and you want to evolve right away.
Where To Find Clefairy
To catch a Clefairy or Cleffa to evolve into a Clefable, the best location in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is Wild Zone 19 at night, where multiples of both can be seen performing a lunar dance under the gazebo.
From the front entrance you'd enter if fast traveling to Wild Zone 19, simply head left and up the hill, and you'll be able to spot the gazebo right away.
There is also a high chance one of the Clefairys will be an Alpha as well. If an Alpha is what you're after and don't spot one, keep refreshing the spawns by fast traveling back to the front entrance until an Alpha Clefairy appears.
Where To Find Cleffa
Cleffa can also be found in Legends: Z-A's Wild Zone 19 at night with Clefairy, but this area doesn't unlock until you've completed Main Mission 30 'Reaching Rank B'. So, if you want to get a Clefairy and Clefable much earlier in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you can find a Cleffa located on the rooftop of the Rogue Sector 5 building, northeast of the Looker Bureau and west of Wild Zone 04.
Find and take the Holovator on the south right side of the building, head upwards, and you'll soon see Cleffa from afar walking by an abundance of Mega Shards.
Like in other games, Cleffa evolves into Clefairy in Legends: Z-A when you have a high enough Friendship level with it. There are a good number of ways to increase friendship in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but the best to start are catching it in a Luxury Ball, having it in your party, and taking it to cafes throughout Lumiose City.
How To Get A Moon Stone
Passade De La Felicite
The first and best among easy places to get a Moon Stone in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is the northeast roof of Passage de la Felicite. This is the large shopping arcade full of boutiques in southwest Lumuiose, as shown in the map image above.
With this fancy shopping mall being quite large, the way up to the roof isn’t visible right away. To get to the top of Passage de la Felicite, head to the northeast part of the building marked in the map image below (to the left of ‘Bleu Sector 6’ on the map).
There, you’ll find a climbable scaffolding, on which you can find two Colored Screws on your way up. Head to the previously marked point on the roof of the western corner of Bleu Sector 6, climbing another ladder on the way, and the Moon Stone will be waiting right there as a red Poke Ball.
Lumiose Sewers
During Mission 20 of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, ‘A Request from the Rust Syndicate’, there is a Moon Stone available to grab at the top left of the map, as marked above.
This isn’t available when you first enter the sewers with Ivor and Emma, but it will become available when you go back for this follow-up mission objective.
West of Cafe Gallant
The third and final easy Moon Stone to grab and evolve yourself a Clefable in Legends: Z-A is the roof of the building to the left of Cafe Gallant, in the middle of Estival Avenue between Wild Zone 10 and Wild Zone 5.
Take the Holovator at the far bottom right of the building, then take a short walk to the left. The Moon Stone will be right in front of one of the chimneys.
The Stone Emporium
If you don’t mind paying for the convenience, Legends: Z-A’s Stone Emporium shop sells Moon Stones for 3,000 Poke Dollars. This store is to the right of Wild Zone 12 and above Wild Zone 01 (pictured above).
The only downside to this, though, is that the Stone Emporium doesn’t add Moon Stones to its inventory until you complete Main Mission 39 ‘The Infinite Z-A Royale’. So, you will need to grab one of the other three Moon Stones above if you want to evolve your Clefairy during the bulk of the campaign.

How To Catch Clefable In Wild Zone 20
During Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s post-game, Clefable can be caught as an Alpha spawn in Wild Zone 20, which unlocks after you complete Main Mission 38 ‘The Future of Lumiose City’. Specifically, this is in the very center of the Wild Zone, right under Centrico Plaza Tower, where one or two Alpha Pokemon spawn.
Still, the pool of spawn for this location includes over 50 Pokemon so far, making each one fairly rare. On the other hand, you can keep fast-traveling back to the front of Wild Zone 20, and the spawns will refresh. It might take a lot of trial and error, but an Alpha Clefable should spawn eventually.
Each of these Alpha Pokemon will be around Level 60, though, and it can get very chaotic if a second Alpha has spawned; the regular Wild Zone 20 Pokemon can spot you and attack as well. So, be sure you’ve got a strong enough team with you to last a drawn-out battle.
How To Get The Clefablite
To get the Clefablite Mega Stone and evolve your Clefable in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you need to go to the Quasartico building and purchase it at the Mega Shard Exchange, costing 240 Mega Shards.
Keep in mind, though, that this particular Mega Stone isn’t available as part of Quasartico’s selection until after you complete Main Mission 31 ‘A Summons from Vinnie’.
With that, you'll be able to give your Clefable the Clefablite to hold, and you can consider its Mega Evolution as part of your army of powerful Pokemon.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A - How To Get Dragonite
To get Dragonite, you'll first need to find Dratini, who happens to be a big fan of Lumiose's rooftops in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
