Walkthrough

This page contains the walkthrough for Contract: The Tufo Monster, a side quest in The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine.

You can pick up this side quest from the Flovive notice board. After you have the quest, head northwest of Flovive and talk to the Tufo Vineyard owner.

The vineyard owner gives you a key to the cellars. Enter the cellars and wait/meditate til night time. Use Witcher Senses and you can find rats and some shattered dishes. On the southern end of the room, there is wall you can destroy. Destroy the wall with Aard and then continue through the tunnel. Continue heading down the tunnel, and you'll encounter some kikimores.

Keep exploring the tunnel and you'll eventually come across another wall you can break through with Aard. There will be more kikimores in this next area. After killing the kikimores, use your Witcher Senses to examine things in the area. You'll find some kikimore eggs, which you can examine and then destroy with Ignii.

You'll also find some giant holes in the ground, some already eaten kikimore eggs on the eastern side of this area.

The final thing to examine is a crack in the ground in the northern side, which indicates an underground stream. After examining these three, return to the surface and talk to the owner. After talking to him and his wife, head north along the road, to where the missing farmhand was last seen.

Use Witcher Senses to examine the area. You can examine a basket with bread, the ground where a blanket was laid out, and two sets of footprints. Follow the trail of footprints and head west.

You'll come across two objects you can then examine, these are a rock with deep claw marks, and then some felled trees, these will indicate to Geralt that the monster is a shaelmaar.

After examining them, continue to follow the tracks west, and they'll lead into a cave. Once inside the Cave, there will be some giant centipedes that attack you. After killing them, continue deeper into the cave. The bottom level of the cave is the shalemaar's lair.

Head to the northern area of the cave to examine the dead bodies and get some fresh human blood that will be used to craft some shaelmaar bait to lure the monster out. You can also loot a nearby silver pendant, which will reveal that the wife was sleeping with Jean-Luc.

Craft the shaelmaar bait from your alchemy crafting menu, and then equip it under the quest items of your inventory. Head to the map markers and spread the bait at the tunnel entrances. After enough bait has been spread, the shaelmaar will attack. It is weak to relict oil, so using that will be useful.

After killing it, it will drop a shaelmaar trophy. Return to Monsieur de Bourbeau and talk to him to complete the quest. If you tell him about his wife and the farmhand, he'll give you an extra 100 crowns and proceed to tell her she has an hour to pack up and leave the estate. If you choose, however, to give the silver pendant to Madame de Bourbeau, she'll gift you with 120 coins and you can be satisfied knowing you didnt help this bum-diddler (after leaving the cellar head left and straight a bit, she's sitting on the porch of one of the houses).
