This page contains the quest walkthrough for Feet as Cold as Ice, a side quest in The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine DLC. This quest is a Monster Contract that can result in gold and a new monster trophy.

Take a look at our guide to all Blood and Wine quests for a full list of our DLC walkthroughs.

Quest Walkthrough

You can pick up this Blood and Wine side quest from Jacquette, a lady standing just west of the Nilfgaardian Embassy Signpost.

She asks you to find her husband to be. After accepting the quest from her, head northwest of Beauclair Palace. Use your Witcher Senses when you get close and you'll find Francois sleeping by a campsite.

Talk to him and he'll tell you he's going to fight the monster now, he was just preparing. Follow him to the cave with the Grottore beast. Once you get to the cave, there are some rusty armor pieces and bones there. Francois heads deeper in the cave, if you choose to just stand outside for a while and not follow him inside, he will die. At that point you'll need to go inside and examine his body, and then you can return to Jacquette (and complete the quest), or continue further and defeat the Grottore.

If you quickly followed him inside, Francois will still be alive. Use Witcher Senses and examine objects highlighted in red, these include the flowers, vines at the back of the cave, cradle with shoes, infant bones, and tools from victims. After examining enough objects, read the bestiary entry in your glossary about the Grottore.

The Grottore is a Relict, and a Spriggan, and so is weak to Relict Oil, but also weak to Igni. Burn the flower plants around the cave with Igni to lure out the Grottore.

After killing the Grottore, you can convince Francois to either take the head of the Grottore and return to Beauclair, or you can keep the monster trophy, and Francois will leave Jacquette and go on another adventure. The second option allows you to keep the Grottore trophy. Also if Francois dies and you kill the Grottore, you keep the trophy.

Return and talk to Jacquette to complete the quest. Her emotions range from really happy, sad, or angry, dependent on what happens with Francois.
