Dmitry Alexeenko shared this1/ Cloudflare Billing has been cooking! A while ago, we set out to transform billing and turn it into a critical piece of infrastructure that supports the mission of helping build a better Internet. That required rebuilding almost every layer of Cloudflare’s financial infrastructure stack. The progress that we made has been remarkable, all because of the fantastic team. 2/ First, we started with rebuilding our data infrastructure. We built Town Lake, a storage engine and query layer over all Cloudflare’s data. This allowed us to efficiently store and retrieve terabytes of billing and payments data: https://lnkd.in/eQ4YrGp4 3/ We completely rebuilt usage billing, from ingestion, to aggregation, metering, rating, and reconciliation. This unlocked a much faster, scalable, and robust usage billing pipeline. It also enabled spend control mechanisms like budget alerts. 4/ On top of that, it enabled visibility into customers’ usage and spend with Billable Usage API and Dashboard: https://lnkd.in/e-b2i2DR 5/ Two years ago, every product had their own implementation of Checkout. We’ve fully rebuilt Checkout making it easier, modern, and more beautiful. It now supports cards, Stripe Link, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Instant Bank Payments, PayPal. 6/ Cloudflare Billing became an enabler for new products: we launched the monetization layers behind Cloudflare AI Gateway and Pay Per Crawl: https://lnkd.in/ezj6YXmv 7/ We’ve made payments more resilient: stronger 3D Secure and RBI support, more reliable payment authentication and tax calculation, smart and reliable retries and fallback payment methods, and better invoice reconciliation. We’ve also modernized subscription management and product access, and improved our developer velocity, observability and reliability of the core platform, leading to fewer errors and better user experience. 8/ There is still much to build, but I’m so proud of what the team accomplished and grateful to everyone who made it possible. Can’t wait to see all the amazing work the team continues to deliver.

Dmitry Alexeenko shared thisSo great to see this launch! Sam started with an idea that embraced the "Do Things that Don't Scale" principle by setting up an email that everyone at the company could send their manual workflows to. This is now how the entire company operates.Dmitry Alexeenko shared thisI wrote about our journey adopting AI at Cloudflare, its role as a toolmaker more than a tool, and our investment in a magic email alias to seed our context layer so that we could enable everyone to be successful. The secret that makes it all possible? A set of technologies that we call Cloudflare OS that takes some of the best of our existing tools like Cloudflare Zero Trust and our Developer Platform and introduces a revolutionary model for thinking about how to build apps and agents within the enterprise. All in a seamless interface that any team member can feel at home using. I feel like I am the luckiest CIO in the world because my teams get to use tools built by the smartest people around to rethink how we get work done. Now you and everyone else can use the same platform to transform your own organization. I think you will find it as genuinely delightful to use as we do. Shout out to the people who made this real from Kenton Varda's vision to ☁︎ Daniel C.'s ability to make dreams a reality to Phillip Jones for converting an internal tool into something worth releasing and Nathan Disidore Maximo Guk Dane Knecht Rita Kozlov and many others, including the tireless first users of it Robert Fleming Meghan J. Ailish Hepburn Ross Jacobs Anna Georgina Ditter! https://lnkd.in/ecpwMGsDHow we’re rethinking work at Cloudflare with Cloudflare OSHow we’re rethinking work at Cloudflare with Cloudflare OS

Dmitry Alexeenko shared thisBig congrats to my friend Alex and the Butter team on today’s launch! It’s a fresh take on social, go check it out!Dmitry Alexeenko shared thisToday, we're introducing Butter. For 20 years, social media has been built for audiences. A feed. Followers. Boxes with a like button. But friendship was never supposed to be followed. It was supposed to be experienced. Butter is the first social software platform, where you don't just react, you interact. It’s a place where friends create mini-apps to match every flavor of friendship. Whip up a time capsule with your college group. Make a leaderboard for the worst decision of the month. Spin up a bracket to settle the best taco spot once and for all. All of your minis connect into one space for your crew, slowly building a shared world that could only be yours. Because friendship deserves a place to live. A real home. Welcome to Butter Join the waitlist: itsbutter.app ❤️

Dmitry Alexeenko shared thisBehind every Cloudflare request is data. Lots of data. Our team built Town Lake, a unified data platform, and Skipper, an AI data agent that turns plain-English questions into insights in seconds.

Dmitry Alexeenko shared thisUsage-based billing should be predictable before the invoice arrives. We just shipped an update to Cloudflare's Cost Explorer: average daily cost and projected month-end cost. We're just getting started.

Dmitry Alexeenko shared this1/ Cloudflare Billing shipped a lot recently. The goal: make it easier to understand what you’re paying for before the invoice arrives, make payments reliable, and make Billing feel modern and clear. We put a fresh coat of paint across Billing and backed it with more reliable systems. 2/ Usage visibility + budget alerts: If you're on a self-serve plan, you now get a Billable Usage dashboard with daily cost breakdowns, per-product usage, and invoice-aligned data. Budget Alerts let you set dollar thresholds and get notified before month-end surprises. 3/ Modern checkout: We’ve been moving products onto a modern checkout flow with clear plan summaries and payment methods you expect: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Stripe Link, Instant Bank Payments, and PayPal. 4/ More resilient renewals: If your primary payment method fails, backup payment method retry helps keep your services active. Fewer accidental downgrades, fewer urgent billing issues, and a smoother renewal experience. 5/ Clearer invoices and account management: Billing settings and invoices are getting cleaner too: grouped subscriptions, clearer invoice lists, 15 new invoice languages, better payment method management, and invoice line items with useful context like domain names. 6/ Docs matter too: We also revamped the Billing docs, including a clearer explanation of how Cloudflare Billing works under the hood: https://lnkd.in/eXUfWMKu

Dmitry Alexeenko shared thisIn San Francisco for Stripe Sessions. A lot of my time at Cloudflare goes into something most people don't see: a metering and aggregation pipeline doing hundreds of millions of QPS. It's the hidden part of usage-based billing, and the part that breaks first when AI agents start driving the traffic. Most billing stacks fall over at a fraction of that load. And with the agentic economy it's even more important: every AI agent action will become a billable event. I'll be at Moscone West this week. If you're working on payments, billing, fraud or usage-based infrastructure at scale, let's grab a coffee. DM me.

Dmitry Alexeenko shared thisWhy was I charged this amount? One of the most common billing questions we get. We shipped the new Billable Usage Dashboard for all self-serve customers to answer this exact question. It uses the same data source and calculation path that generates the monthly invoice. It's billing-cycle aligned, rated in dollars, covers 30+ usage components (Workers, R2, KV, Durable Objects, D1, Queues, etc.), shows the total vs billable usage so you can see how our free tiers apply. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Dmitry Alexeenko liked thisDmitry Alexeenko liked thisExcited to share that I’ve joined Ripple as Director of Software Engineering in London! 🎉 After an incredible 3 years at Stripe, where I grew so much as an engineering leader, I’m ready for a new chapter. Two months into this role, and I’m already energized by the team, the mission, and the problems we’re solving. Stripe will always hold a special place for me. The people, the culture, the sheer scale of what we built together taught me lessons I’ll carry forward. Grateful for that chapter. Now, diving into something new. Lots to learn, a great team to learn from, and I’m here for it.

Dmitry Alexeenko liked thisDmitry Alexeenko liked thisThis week is my last at Stripe. I joined in 2018 to work on Developer Productivity, focused on helping Stripe’s engineers have the most productive time of their careers. That started with the inner loop, trying to make the developer experience as tightly integrated as possible. I truly believe that Stripe has some of the best developer tools in the industry. I’m incredibly proud of what we built, but much more grateful for the people I got to build it with. Stripe is genuinely full of people who care deeply about their work, hold themselves and each other to a high bar and are just great people to spend your days working alongside. I’ve learnt an enormous amount from them, especially my managers Aaron Spinks, Rahul Patil and Will Larson. Thank you to all the current and former Stripes who made the last eight years so memorable. I feel incredibly fortunate to have spent them here.

Dmitry Alexeenko reacted on thisDmitry Alexeenko reacted on thisMoving to Lisbon, Portugal was exciting. BUT moving back to the Bay Area two years later feels like a homecoming. Everything started there. It's where my husband and I met. Where my tech career began–I still remember my first tech job at the OG ZenPayroll (now Gusto!) office. Honestly, what. a. blast. Where my journey from H-1B to green card started. And so much more. Since leaving SF, we've changed jobs, I started a company, we bought a house in Seattle, got a dog, had our son, lived in Lisbon... And now we get to go back to where it all began. What an unbelievably wild ride. I have a much longer piece in the works about our experience living in Lisbon. It's been surprisingly hard to write because I have so much to say–but stay tuned. For now, I'm sitting with how impossible it would have been to predict any of this when we first left San Francisco. You make one decision, then another - some work and some don't. A lot of the time they take you somewhere you never expected to go. And somehow, years later, you look back and realize your life became much bigger because you were willing to change it. So yeah...take the risk. You genuinely have no idea where it might lead.

Runway made 5 engineering hires through Paraform - including former Principal Engineers from Twilio and Snowflake. Runway is a collaborative financial planning platform founded by Siqi Chen (former Head of Product at Zynga, VP Growth at Postmates) and Arya Asemanfar (ex-Twitter, Mixpanel, Lightstep). In the last 18 months, they've gone from $150K to $4M in ARR and 200+ customers. By the end of 2026, they're eyeing $6M ARR. They move fast, run lean, and don't compromise on talent. Every Runway engineer works on product that customers use to simulate and make multi-million-dollar decisions. The bar is high by design. "We aren't looking for volume, we're looking for precision. We need people with real technical depth, strong product instincts, and the kind of ownership mindset that only thrives in a startup environment." - Annie Wu, Head of People & Operations But Runway didn't want to scale internal recruiting just to keep pace. And traditional agencies historically couldn't hit their bar. Candidates were either missing on technical skills or not ready for a startup environment. Instead of expanding internal recruiting or relying on traditional agencies, Runway used Paraform to access specialized engineering recruiters. “Our POC, Emma, is a strategic partner who pushed us on calibration when market trends shifted, helping us tighten our process in real time. That kind of proactive partnership is what lets us keep raising the bar for talent and stay competitive in the market.” Since kicking off, Runway has made 5 engineering hires - including 2 Staff Engineers, formerly at Twilio and Snowflake. Those hires now contribute directly to core product initiatives, from strengthening modeling infrastructure to supporting new AI-enabled functionality. They've since expanded their search with Paraform to Forward Deployed Finance Partners and already made one successful hire with us. "Rather than building internal sourcing capacity from scratch every time hiring spiked, we can dial recruiting support up when needed - and dial it back down when our priorities or needs shift." - Kirill Klimuk, Head of Engineering Read more about Runway's success with Paraform in the comments.

Early on at NodeShift we made a decision that slowed us down for months. We built the anonymization layer before we built the flashy features. My instinct from product teams was to ship something demo-able fast. The regional reality forced a different order. No bank in the UAE was going to let us near their data because we had a slick assistant. They needed proof that a prompt with sensitive information could be masked, sent, and the response re-mapped, with a full audit trail behind it. The lesson stuck with me. In regulated markets, trust is the feature. Everything else is decoration on top of it. If we had built the assistants first and the governance second, we would have a beautiful product nobody in this region could legally use. Building the boring foundation first was the only thing that made the rest possible.

A few years ago we taught LLMs to answer. Now agents must act inside our systems. Are they a strategic necessity or a temporary bridge? My view: necessity, but only when treated as an integrated service rather than a demo. What consistently works in production: • governed access to sensitive data and clear purpose limits • event-driven orchestration with retries and SLAs • least-privilege actions with full audit trails Healthcare example: an ambient scribe connected to the EHR reduces administrative load and eases burnout because notes flow from microphone to policy layer to EHR with human verification. Fintech example: an agent on the event bus monitors orders and positions and triggers compliance before clearing, not in end-of-day reports. Analyst consensus shows momentum, yet many agent initiatives are canceled when integration and measurable value are weak. Integration beats novelty. Which patterns have worked best for you: event bus, BPMN-style orchestration, or a tool-former stack tied to domain APIs? What broke, and why? #AI #AIAgents #AgenticAI #LLM #MLOps #SystemsIntegration #HealthcareIT #Fintech #CTO #EngineeringLeadership
