The Isle of Mists

The Isle of Mists is a main quest located in the far-west of Skellige.

Note: This quest marks a point of no-return for some characters and will prevent you from freely traveling to complete side quests. Make sure to have repair items and the like. Some quests will also fail if you don't complete them prior to traveling to the Isle of Mists, including Cabaret and Redania's Most Wanted. You'll also want to have completed all the Brothers in Arms side quests. Many other side quests will again become available after the next few story missions.

The Isle of Mists Walkthrough

Check list time! Have you completed:

  • Brothers in Arms: Novigrad
  • Brothers in Arms: Velen
  • Brothers in Arms: Skellige

Then you can proceed.

Head to Skellige to find a boat and sail off to the marker for the Isle of Mists on your map. The sailing is pretty straight forward. Avoid the rocks, go around the island, and kill any sirens you encounter with Aard or Igni. When you reach the marker for the isle, the game will prompt you to save. This is a point of no return, so keep an extra save if you want to go back. Major decisions will happen in the game from here on out.

Sail into the fog and follow the firefly through the rocks. Before too long, you will arrive at a dock. Hop out of the boat and continue following the firefly up the shore. One or two foglets will attack you. Quickly take care of them and continue up the hill. At the top of the hill is a small cottage. Knock on the door to not be greeted by four dwarves. They won’t open the door for you out of fear. Offer to help find their three friends, in exchange for their trust. Run off to find the three missing dwarves.

The first dwarf is Ivo. He can be found on the coast of the island. Follow the mini map down a slope and toward the beach. Slay any harpies that bug you along the way. Down on the shore, you can spot Ivo on top of a tall rock. He is hiding from a couple water hags. Kill them and wave for Ivo to come down. Ivo, it turns out, is a total klutz. He falls off the rock and snaps his neck. On to dwarf number two.

Up next is Ferenc. You may have to switch your quest objective to have the mini map guide you Ferenc. Click in the right stick to do so. From Ivo’s location, you will run inland and toward a forest. You may either ignore or fight off any foglets that attack you along the way. When you arrive at Ferenc’s location, he is already dead, by the antlers of a Fiend. Use Igni and stay on the side of the beast. Hit it with quick attacks and dodge its charge moves. It won’t take long to slay the Fiend. Only one dwarf left, hopefully his luck is better.

Leave the forest and run back towards the shore. Keep your eye on the horizon for the lighthouse Gaspard is supposed to be hiding in. Along the way more foglets and harpies will attack. Choose fight or flight and climb the lighthouse ladder. At the top is Gaspard, sound asleep. Wake him and escort him back to the cottage. Gaspard suffers from narcolepsy. He will randomly fall asleep on the walk back. Defend him from foglets and harpies, while making sure he stays awake. He doesn’t fall asleep too often -- only twice if you pick the right path. You will arrive back at the cottage in no time.

When you arrive, a long cutscene will play out. The dwarves found Ciri, but she is cold and won’t wake up. They claim she is dead and agree to wait by the boat for you.

Head inside and check on her. When she wakes up, you may chat with her about her journey or not. Tell her about the plan to fight at Kaer Morhen and go to the boat together.

It turns out that dwarves are impatient too. They stole the boat and sailed off into the mist. The Wild Hunt is coming. Ciri teleports both of you to Kaer Morhen. It is time to prepare for the hunt.
