Ubisoft has opened pre-orders for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's "launch edition" across the UK and wider European regions, bundling in a handful of physical extras. But, it won't be available in the US.

Instead, US fans are limited to a standard physical, digital, digital deluxe, or collector's edition, the latter of which is already largely sold out across all major retailers. So what's the difference between the standard and launch editions?

The launch edition includes the base game on disc, packaged in a cardboard sleeve alongside a small selection of collectibles. These consist of a 34-page art book featuring concept art, character explorations, and environmental artwork from the remake, as well as a double-sided poster. One side shows a detailed map of the Caribbean, while the reverse features a piece of artwork from the game. The standard edition will simply include the base game.

It's not uncommon for publishers to offer region-specific editions with exclusive physical or digital bonuses. Yet, it can be argued that European players are effectively getting a better-value package at the same-to-similar baseline price, while US players are seemingly limited to the basic standard edition.

In the UK, the game is set at £49.99, while in the US it's priced at $59.99. The UK's Amazon listing also emphasizes that the launch edition, with the aforementioned extra goodies, will "only be available while supplies last".

Digital pre-order bonuses are consistent across regions, with players receiving a "crimson" costume, pistol, and sword in-game. Those extras are also included in the US, meaning players there aren't missing out entirely, but they do lose access to the physical additions tied to the European launch edition.
