World Bosses, or Rift Champions, in Borderlands 4 are found within rifts across the map. These rifts are large, transparent white domes in random locations across the map. Once you enter the rift, the battle starts, but you can end it at any time by exiting the dome (be careful not to accidently leave the rift in the middle of the fight or the boss will disappear).
The bosses found within rifts are random and can include some enemies you’ve already defeated during missions. If any of these defeated bosses have unique loot, they’ll have a chance of dropping it once they are defeated as a Rift Champion. All World Bosses have an excellent chance of dropping higher-quality loot, including Legendary World Drops, but they don’t have any dedicated loot drops (aside from the previously mentioned mission bosses).
World Boss Tips
- Many bosses have single directional attacks that can be dodged by dashing to the side.
- You can jump and glide over many AoE attacks by holding the jump button to avoid taking extra damage.
- If you die while challenging a World Boss, the rift will disappear when you are resurrected.
- Fights against the same World Boss can vary from encounter to encounter, as they may have different Modifiers, and will be surrounded by area-appropriate trash mobs.
