In an interview with the Korean-American author Min Jin Lee we referred to the mechanical pinball game pachinko – the title of Lee’s best-known novel – as being found “in pachinko parlours across Korea”. This meant to refer to Japan; pachinko is much less prevalent in South Korea owing to the country’s strict gambling restrictions (‘I thought, if I’m going to die, I’m going to write a book first’, 3 October, Saturday magazine, p45).
In quick cryptic crossword No 131 (3 October, p54) the final two down clues were missing. They were as follows: ‘Small child heads for the other table (3)’, and ‘Frozen water: Arctic evidently contains it (3)’. This error was in print only.
