Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight's minimum and recommended PC specs have been revealed, and they've got everyone wondering how a Lego game needs so much juice.
There are a lot of undeniable benefits to playing games on PC, but the past few years of triple-A games have made one of the downsides increasingly clear - how demanding most big releases are. While it makes sense that new games are going to require more power, a lot of recent games, particularly on Unreal Engine 5, have left players gobsmacked at the requirements.
One such game is the upcoming Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which had players scared by the recommended specs for the game when they were listed early on Steam. Even when TT Games reduced the recommended RAM from 32GB to 16GB, PC players were baffled at how intense the specs were for a Lego game, a feeling that's come back in force for the final specs.
You're Going To Need A Really Good PC To Play Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight
"Holy Unoptimized Slop"
Earlier today, the official Lego Batman Twitter page revealed the minimum, recommended, and 4K PC specs for Legacy of the Dark Knight. Much has already been made about how taxing the game looked to be based on previous specs, but we now know what's going to be expected for the final game.
Legacy of the Dark Knight's PC specs are a little kinder than what Steam was recommending some time ago, but it'll still require an Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600, a whopping 16GB RAM, an SSD, and 50GB of storage to run at low 1080p at 30fps with Frame Gen enabled.
Those specs keep on climbing if you want the game to run better, with the 4K specs requiring 24GB of RAM and an Intel Core i7-14700K or AMD Ryzen 7 9700X. All three settings note that the final settings are with Frame Gen enabled, which is one of the factors that is causing so much backlash.
As you can probably imagine, PC players aren't happy about the specs, with many instantly blaming the game's use of Unreal Engine 5 for all of the issues, since that's been a bugbear with other recent triple-A releases. While a lot of fans are calling for a delay and more optimisation, these new specs actually are optimised from previous ones we've received.
A lot of people are quick to throw out the "for a Lego game" argument but, to be fair, Legacy of the Dark Knight is a stunner. Some of these requirements are still a bit ridiculous, though.
