Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has revealed in a recent interview that investors have asked him if Grand Theft Auto 6 even needs to be marketed since it's the biggest game in the world.
Ever since it was confirmed a few months ago that GTA 6's marketing campaign would finally begin at some point this "Summer", we've all been sitting around and waiting for it to start. We have no idea what it's going to entail or when exactly we should expect more information, but that hasn't stopped us all from trying to find hints wherever we go.
Really, though, you could make the point that GTA 6 is so massive that it doesn't even need to be marketed to people. Even with how secretive Rockstar has been, GTA 6 has already been on everybody's mind ever since it was announced, which is exactly what some investors have pointed out to Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick.
Take-Two Investors Think GTA 6 Doesn't Even Need Marketing
Try Telling That To Everyone Who's Been Waiting For The Past Year
Earlier today, GamesIndustry.biz shared a massive and detailed interview with Zelnick ahead of the big Take-Two investor call that's planned for later today. Despite their best efforts, GI.biz wasn't able to get any kind of hint about what GTA 6's marketing campaign is going to be, since Zelnick knows that any bit of information is going to impact share prices and the overall plans.
While Zelnick didn't share any information about what's planned, he did reveal an interesting tidbit about what some Take-Two investors think about GTA 6's marketing. According to Zelnick, Take-Two investors have asked whether they need to spend "marketing dollars" given how big Grand Theft Auto as a series is. I mean, it's a fair point with how many people are ready to drop $100 already.
It may feel like Zelinck took that advice on board, considering how long it's been since we've heard or seen anything about GTA 6, but thankfully he said that "of course" Take-Two needs to market the game. That being said, it won't be similar to how GTA 5 was marketed a decade and a bit ago, as Zelnick says that the campaign needs to "reflect where audiences and attention is today".
We can expect a lot of TikTok adverts, then.
