News on pricing to come "soon"
While worries continue to bubble that GTA 6 might be delayed again, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick teased that "a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19."
Of course, these assurances were made again and again ahead of previous delays, so it's understandable that fans are struggling to take them at face value, but what's especially promising this week is a comment highlighted in the most recent Game File newsletter.
Speaking to Variety reporter Jenny Maas, Zelnick said that marketing would begin "soon," though he wouldn't offer a concrete date. It has been almost a year since the last trailer, and fans are starting to get restless, but there's some solid guesswork at what "soon" might mean before we start interrogating moon cycles again.
GTA 6 Marketing Could Start As Soon As Next Month
Typically, big announcements are made ahead of Take-Two earnings calls, and the next one is scheduled for May 21, which certainly qualifies as "soon." There are, of course, fears that a delay could be announced next month, as Rockstar announced it was delaying GTA 6 again on the day of the November 6 earnings call.
However, considering Zelnick's confidence that people will "be calling in sick" (as per IGN), and his tease that marketing will ratchet up "soon," that hardly seems likely. Industry insiders like Bloomberg's Jason Schreier have stressed that a delay is possible, but he also said that he "wouldn't be shocked" if it does launch in the Fall, expressing confidence in the current date.
Reputable PlayStation leaker Millie A, meanwhile, claimed that "Sony and Microsoft have been formally notified by Take-Two Interactive that Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on track for release within the current fiscal year," supporting Insider Gaming editor-in-chief Tom Henderson's speculation.
More recently, reporter Reece 'Kiwi Talkz' Reilly stated that "there will be no more delays," and that "Rockstar is very much aware that radio silence and ongoing delays is starting to screw with the entire industry at large due to the magnitude of its release." He likewise speculated that a third trailer may drop in May or June, "so the rest of the industry can actually start making a definite plan for their games."
