We have another update on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3's development, and we might only have to be patient for a little while longer.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi says that work on the final part in the Remake trilogy is "on time and on schedule", suggesting there have been no internal delays. While there isn't much he can say now, he adds that we have to wait "just a little longer" for more news, perhaps hinting that a reveal is on the cards soon.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Director Gives Us An Update On Part 3's Development
"I’m unable to share concrete details at this time," Hamaguchi says, which isn't particularly surprising. "What I can say is that development itself is proceeding on time and on schedule. We believe it’ll become a title we can deliver with confidence as the culmination of the trilogy.
"We know many fans are eagerly waiting, and preparations toward the announcement are steadily underway. Please look forward to it just a little longer."
So, I am grasping at straws a bit here, but Hamaguchi could have just left it at "no comment" and moved on. Instead, he seems eager to stress that there will be some news soon - and quite soon, judging from his choice of words.
That would line up with what we've previously heard about Part 3's development. For starters, it is far enough into development that we've been hearing some gameplay details, like how the snowboarding minigame will return alongside an "enhanced" version of Queen's Blood. In fact, as of December 2025, we heard that work on the gameplay for Part 3 was "almost complete", likely meaning it is now being refined if everything has stuck to schedule.
If you can believe it, it's been three years since Rebirth dropped, so getting a trailer for the follow-up sometime soon would make sense. But first, we have Rebirth's Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S ports, coming June 3.
