There's two things you need to do in Borderlands 4: find guns and shoot things. They work perfectly together because finding better guns means shooting things better. It's a simple yet effective formula that makes the game fun to play. There is a story somewhere in there about a Timekeeper or something of the sort, but these two things are the core pillars of the entire series.
I Love It When Borderlands 4 Gives Me Distant Map Icons To Chase Down
When the main quest really feels like a quest.
However, there is something that might hamper you from finding guns and shooting things, and that's listening to NPCs while they give you a mission. Thankfully the devs have ensured the writing isn't as slapstick as in the previous game, but you still need to listen to them before you can move on. Apparently, there's no option to skip dialogues because it would break how the game works.
Gearbox Won't Be Able To Add A Skip Dialogue Option To Borderlands 4
As spotted by GamesRadar, someone on Twitter shared a video of a fan-made 'skip dialogue' feature and asked Gearbox why they haven't integrated it already. It's true, most of us don't care for the random things NPCs have to say, especially during side missions. Just drop the marker on the map and let us go!
However, it seems that this is easier said than done. Creative director Graeme Timmins replied saying that Borderlands 4 was made in a way that wouldn't accommodate the feature. In fact, adding it in now would break the game.
"I'd be cautious using this mod," replied Timmins. "Skipping dialog could lead to broken mission states that might not be recoverable. This request is way more involved and riskier that it appears on the surface with how dialog is integrated within our mission system. Don't ask me how I know."
Of course, we know how Timmins knows, he's the creative director of the game after all. It looks like we're stuck listening to the mad raving of the denizens of Kairos before heading to the marker to find guns and shoot things.
