Ciri's Story: King of the Wolves

Ciri's Story: King of the Wolves is the first quest whereas you play as Ciri.

Ciri plays a lot like Geralt in sword combat. She cannot use Signs or access the inventory. She has a regular sword, no silver sword for monsters. She also lacks a heavy blow, just fast attacks. Where she excels is moving quickly. Her dodge is a short teleport that works wonders for moving out of the way and flanking enemies.

With control of Ciri, start moving forward. Grab every plant you see, you’ll need to make a blade oil later, so it helps having all the plants you need when you get there. Soon, you’ll come across wolves. Up in a tree nearby is a girl crying for help. Clear out the wolves and talk to the girl.

Gretka is the girl’s name and her parents tried to send her down a “trail of treats.” Ciri will agree to escort the girl home. Continue down the path, while fighting wolves. Make sure to loot the wolves, as well as pick up plants. You’ll need both for the blade oil.

Not far down the path, the duo will stumble across a mutilated corpse. Make sure to inspect all the body. Missing a part can lead to an incorrect guess on the murderer. This will make the fight more difficult.

Turns out that a Werewolf did the damage. With that knowledge in hand, Ciri needs to make a blade oil that is effective against it. Gather any remaining plants or wolf parts to finish the oil. When you have everything gathered, Ciri will make the blade oil.

Continue to follow Gretka along the path. You’ll soon come to a cave where a man is being attacked by the Wolf King. If you inspected all of the corpses from earlier and made the blade oil for werewolves instead of the oil for relics, you’ll be good to go. If you made the wrong oil, the beast will grow stronger and become more difficult.

Monster Fight: Werewolf

With the right oil, this fight is a piece of cake. Stay on top of the beast. Dodge when necessary. It is easy to pin the werewolf against the wall and wail on him. The fight will be over quickly.

The man is grateful you saved him and takes you to his master, Baron Phillip Strenger. This is where the two tales meet and our story goes back to Geralt.

Before the baron gives up any more information about Ciri, he needs Geralt’s help. His wife and daughter have gone missing. If Geralt helps find them, the baron will tell him everything he knows about Ciri.
