This page contains the locations and crafting requirements of the Griffin Witcher Gear found in The Witcher 3. This includes where to find each type of Wolven gear from Basic to Grandmaster, the locations, and stats of each gear.

Wolven Witcher Gear Diagram Locations

The Wolven Witcher Gear Set can be found in Kaer Morhen (Scavenger Hunt: Wolf School Gear). It consists of 6 pieces - 4 armor pieces, 2 swords. It's a medium armor witcher set.

Basic Wolven Witcher Gear

Basic Wolven Steel Sword

The simplest form of the Wolven Steel Sword can be found in Bastion, to the west of Kaer Morhen.

Enter the fortress ruins through the right-hand door (approaching from the east) and retrieve the diagram from the burned-out rubble directly ahead of you. Note, there may be some wraiths about if you haven't completed the side quest The Bastion.

Basic Wolven Silver Sword

This piece of Witcher Gear can be found in the Ruined Watchtower, far to the north of Kaer Morhen.

Enter the ruins from the main gate on the western wall and dispatch any wraiths that may be present, then collect the diagram from the chest at the base of the tower ahead of you.

(This is also the location of the Enhanced Wolven Steel Sword as well - it is on the scaffold above the western gate.)

Basic Wolven Armor

The first batch of Wolven gear may also be the most puzzling to acquire - head to the Signal Tower to the south-west of Kaer Morhen, and open the chest that would customarily hold the gear diagrams.

Instead, you've found a note explaining something about portals. You'll need to re-activate the nearby portal, which is at the base of the ladder inside the tower (facing out towards Kaer Morhen). One of the crystals is missing, so you'll need to locate it - it can be found by exiting the main door of the Tower and climbing the scaffold hanging over the edge of it's north wall. Return to the gateway and add the crystal, then use Aard to open the portal and jump in.

You will land in a tunnel below the Signal Tower - kill the wraith(s) that you encounter, then retrieve the armor diagrams and more notes about the gear from the skeleton in the tunnel.

Enhanced Wolven Witcher Gear

Enhanced Wolven Silver Sword

To locate the enhanced silver sword, head into the Baron's garden in Crow's Perch and descend the ladder into the cavern beneath the well.

Facing the water, head to the wall on the right-hand side to find the chest containing the diagram.

Enhanced Wolven Steel Sword

Return to the Ruined Watchtower to the far north of Kaer Morhen. Once inside the main entryway, head up the crumbling stone ramp to the scaffold above the entrance and collect the diagram from the chest.

Enhanced Wolven Armor

Sail to the small ruin in the lake to the south of Fyke Isle. Dispatch any Drowners that may be in the area, then use your Witcher Senses to locate the Wolf School symbol on the broken wall.

Beneath the surface of the water you will find two chests - the first contains some standard gear, and the second (a bit further down) holds the diagram.

Enhanced Wolven Gauntlets

In the hills to the south of Kaer Morhen is an entrance to a cave.

This cave is where you battle the Forktail with Eskel in the main quest Ugly Baby - enter the cavern and follow the path to the right.

Once you climb the rocks and enter the main chamber of the cave, the diagram can be found in a standard wooden chest on the left-hand wall.

Enhanced Wolven Trousers

Take the boat docked at the Lakeside Hut, to the north of Kaer Morhen, and sail towards the south-eastern corner of the lake.

On the southern path between the small island and the mountainside, stop the boat and dive underwater to find the chest with the diagram inside.

Enhanced Wolven Boots

After arriving at the Grotto fast-travel point in N/E Velen, head into the cave. Once inside, follow either the right or left path around to the back of the large stone column ahead of you to find the chest with the diagram inside.

Superior Wolven Witcher Gear

Superior Wolven Silver Sword

Southeast of Arinbjorn, in the Skellige Isles, is a cluster of three burial mounds. In the tomb furthest to the south, this diagram can be found in a small chest tucked into an alcove on the eastern wall.

Superior Wolven Steel Sword

To the south-west of the village of Lofoten in Skellige, ascend the coastal path up the cliffside to the base of an abandoned tower. Climb the rocks up to the tower platform and (after avoiding or killing the nearby Rock Troll) descend into the collapsed ruin.

Using Igni or a Grapeshot bomb, ignite and disperse the poisonous gas in the next chamber, then run to the back-left wall to collect the diagram. The gas re-appears very quickly, so move fast if you want to make it out alive.

Superior Wolven Armor

Find the ruined fort to the south-west of Fyresdal (it's also the location of a Harpy nest) and climb up the ruins on the right inside the gate. Jump up onto the walkway and follow it to the end where the diagrams waits inside a chest.

Superior Wolven Gauntlets

Head into the Iron Mine to the south of Kaer Morhen and follow the path around the corner to the right. When you reach the split in the tunnel, enter the chamber on your left and collect the diagram from the chest on the altar along the right-hand wall (move slowly to avoid disturbing the Earth Elemental that resides in this chamber).

Superior Wolven Trousers

At the end of the path leading north-west from Kaer Morhen, Geralt can use his Witcher senses to find the Wolf School rune carved into the rock near the entrance to an ancient Witcher hideout.

Head into the tunnels - beware of the several Nekkers and Rotfiends that dwell within - and use Aard to destroy the stalagmites near the pillar on the left wall (about 2/3 of the way down the final hall, before the steps). The diagram is inside a chest behind the destroyed rocks.

Superior Wolven Boots

Follow the river (to the south of Kaer Morhen) to the east, then around the bend to the north. You'll find a cavern entrance on the eastern bank. Head inside and follow the tunnels until you reach the large main chamber.

On the right-hand wall of the large cavern, use Aard to destroy the stalagmites blocking your path, then collect the diagram from the chest behind them.

Mastercrafted Wolven Witcher Gear

Mastercrafted Wolven Silver Sword

Follow the road south-west from Kimbolt Way in Velen past the destroyed village. To the south you'll see a large tree rising out of the bog.

You'll need to defeat a Fiend in this area before proceeding, but once it's been dealt with loot the nearby corpse for the keys to the abandoned hideout and collect the diagram.

Mastercrafted Wolven Steel Sword

Off the western coast of Velen, south-west of Duén Hen, you'll find a marker for Spoils of War. Underneath the staircase in the sunken ship you will find the chest containing this Witcher gear diagram.

Mastercrafted Wolven Armor

Along the road east of the Byways in the south of Velen is a ruined shrine or temple. Facing the ruins, you can find the diagram in the large brazier to the left of the first set of stairs.

Mastercrafted Wolven Gauntlets

Directly east of Fayrlund in the Skellige Ilses is a large ruined tower. Next to the tower, just over the ruined wall next to the road, is the chest containing the diagram. Be wary of disturbing the large Fiend known as Morvudd from the mission Missing Son.

Mastercrafted Wolven Trousers

Head up to the ruins of the Old Watchtower on Svorlag in the Skellige Isles. The gear chest is sitting atop the archway at the base of the tower. Climb onto the wall near the tree to get onto the arch, then collect the diagram.

Mastercrafted Wolven Boots

On Undvik in the Skellige Iles, make your way to the southern edge of the ruins of Dorve. The Boots diagram can be found in a chest nestled against the base of the tall ruined tower on the hill.

Grandmaster Wolven Witcher Gear

the Grandmaster Wolven Witcher Gear is containted in the Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3. It can only be crafted by the Grandmaster Smith in Beauclair. As with the other schools, there are four pieces of armor to acquire along with two swords.

Where to Find the Grandmaster Wolven Gear

Start at the Termes Palace Ruins to the South East in Toussaint.

Follow the path and go to the right slightly to a burnt out campfire. Under the bench here you will find Isabelle Duchamp's journal - read it to get your next waypoint.

Go North to the large ruins and hook around when you get to the road. You should see some stone stairs leading up to an arch with a glowing purple barrier.

To the right before the arch is a Purple Ruby you will need to use to dispell the barrier. Use the ruby on the holder to the right of the portal and go through.

Defeat the enemies in the next room and turn left and go through the doorway. Then use Aard on the broken wall to keep going down the corridor.

This next large room will have you fight a giant centipede. Then continue forward and up some ledges to another broken wall to use Aard on.

Drop down into this area, defeat the enemies and turn left through the archway. This room will have a crypt and a bit past it is a small satchel which contains the first lot of diagrams.

Backtrack to the previous room and go straight through the next doorway. On the floor in front of you are some skeletal remains which have the last of the set.
