I'm excited to share that I've officially joined the team at Cloud CROWD as Director of Solutions and Services. In just four years, Cloud CROWD has quietly built an impressive reputation across cloud, security, and modern work, partnering closely with organisations such as Microsoft and Citrix along the way. Having worked with the team during my time at Nerdio, and knowing several of them for many years, joining Cloud CROWD felt like a natural next step as I return to my roots in the solutions and services space. While I've always enjoyed helping clients navigate product selection and technology decisions, the greatest reward has always been seeing them realise genuine value from their investment. That's why I couldn't be happier to join a team that is deeply focused on helping clients get the most from their technology and achieve meaningful outcomes. Trevor Laughton liked thisTrevor Laughton liked thisAs this semester wraps up, I’m feeling incredibly proud of what has been accomplished 🥳 It’s been a privilege to teach students through both the Cyber Security and Governance unit and the Human Factors in Cyber Security unit at QUT (Queensland University of Technology). Watching students develop their understanding of these critical fields and be more passionate in the industry has been truly rewarding. Reflecting on this, I’m also reminded of my own journey, particularly my time as a consultant with 180 Degrees Consulting QUT. Coming back to mentor the new cohort has been a wonderful full-circle moment, showing how far we can go when we share our knowledge. Finally, as I conclude my term as President of the QUT GRC Club , I want to express my deepest appreciation to the executive team and the many incredible industry professionals I’ve had the privilege of interacting with to deliver for both QUT and the Club. Your insights and contributions have been invaluable. Congratulations and best wishes to the incoming executive team! It’s been an incredible ride, and I’m excited to see where the next chapter takes everyone.

Trevor Laughton liked thisTrevor Laughton liked thisFarewell to Queensland Health / eHealth Queensland After two of the most rewarding years of my career, my contract with eHealth Queensland on the statewide Vulnerability Management project has come to a close. When I joined, the program was still finding its feet. Together, we built it from the ground up — driving an uplift in vulnerability discovery coverage, scaling from roughly 11000 licences (assets onboarded to the old solution) to more than 120,000 Rapid7 agents/scans deployed across every Hospital and Health Service in the state. It's an achievement the whole team should be proud of, and one I'll always look back on as a genuine career highlight. But more than any of the numbers, what I'll carry with me are the people. I've had the privilege of working alongside genuinely talented, curious and generous colleagues — people who trusted me, challenged me, and taught me an enormous amount along the way. That trust and collaboration is what made the results possible. There's a particular kind of pride that comes with working for state government in one of our most critical industries. Knowing that the work we did helped protect the systems Queenslanders rely on for their care gave every day a real sense of purpose. It's been a privilege to contribute to something that genuinely matters, and to be part of a Cyber Program delivering remarkable progress for the people of Queensland. This isn't really a goodbye — more of a "see you around." I'm now looking ahead to my next challenge as I continue moving towards a Security Professional/Architecture role. Trevor Laughton liked thisTrevor Laughton liked thisThe vendor got 90 seconds into the demo before the programme manager stopped him. "Does this require an internet connection?" It did. The session ended. This repeats across defence procurement. A company builds something, lands a meeting with a prime, then hits the same wall: the software assumes connectivity. The network in the room has none. The contract requires it never will. Over 4 million US government personnel hold security clearances, most working in facilities with zero paths to the public internet. Air-gap qualification is the first filter, not an afterthought. Vendors who don't design for it don't pass the security review. For point cloud rendering, this is a harder constraint. Rendering trillions of points in real time requires serious compute. Most platforms pushed that computation to the cloud. Reasonable commercial decision. Disqualifying one. udSDK runs on standard CPU hardware, connected, offline, or air-gapped. No GPU. No cloud required. If the programme demands an air-gapped environment, the engine runs identically. That architecture decision came before the first sales call. How many vendors on your shortlist are going to discover the air-gap requirement in the room?
