Gerry Syjongtian liked thisGerry Syjongtian liked thisAgeing well doesn’t start when something goes wrong. It starts with preparation. I’m not recovering from a specific injury. I’m still playing football, staying active, and trying to keep doing the things I enjoy for as long as I can. For over a year, I’ve been using #MiOK, and one thing it has reinforced for me is that small, consistent changes are what build lasting habits. That same thinking is why I was open to trying Kieser when it was suggested to me. I had known about Kieser for a while, mainly through the many stories of people recovering from back and neck injuries. I always thought it was primarily for people in recovery. But after spending time with Hamish McConnell at Kieser King Street in Melbourne, I saw it differently. The equipment is unlike the gym gear I grew up with. It’s designed to vary resistance through the full movement, helping strengthen muscles in a more controlled and targeted way. Just as importantly, Hamish helped me understand the technique, pace and discipline required to get the most benefit. For me, the goal is simple: to have my muscles ready when I need them, not only after a 30-minute warm-up. That means moving with more confidence, reducing the risk of soft tissue injuries, and giving myself the best chance to keep doing the things I love. As I get older, I’m realising quality of life is not something we should leave to chance. It’s something we can actively influence through the habits and choices we make now. I’m sharing this because I think it’s an important reminder that looking after ourselves doesn’t need to wait until something breaks. If this prompts even one person to think differently about strength, movement, ageing or prevention, then it’s worth sharing. What began as a career opportunity became an experience that shaped me both professionally and personally. Over these years, I’ve had the privilege of working on meaningful challenges, learning something new every day, and growing in ways I never imagined. I am sincerely grateful to IBM for believing in me and providing an environment where I could learn, innovate, and evolve. Every opportunity, every challenge, and every milestone has contributed to the person I am today. To my managers and mentors—thank you for your trust, guidance, and encouragement. Project Managed as part of team working on Project Odyssey to implement Oracle's Customer Care and Billing system (CC&B), replacing numerous Energy Australia's legacy systems. Focusing on developing infrastructure, change management process, environment management and improvements and supporting the implementation of these processes. This saw the successful deployment of a new Retail IT Platform to support shared Energy Australia and IBM goals.
Achievements include:
• Infrastructure…Project Managed as part of team working on Project Odyssey to implement Oracle's Customer Care and Billing system (CC&B), replacing numerous Energy Australia's legacy systems. Focusing on developing infrastructure, change management process, environment management and improvements and supporting the implementation of these processes. This saw the successful deployment of a new Retail IT Platform to support shared Energy Australia and IBM goals.

• Infrastructure Project Manager for the deployment of IT hardware in support of retail IT platform.
• Managed application and data release to the production environments and all sub environments.
• Managed environment stakeholders to schedule and deploy releases for application teams.
• Used analyst skills to transform the needs of the business users and stakeholders into functional/technical requirements.
• Liaise with Energy Australia to develop a detailed plan to deliver a new Retail IT Platform that will support shared Energy Australia and IBM goals.
• Coordinate with teams to ensure procedures, plans and processes are developed correctly
