Despite having been released nearly three years ago, Street Fighter 6 is still chugging along with its various DLC and, um, lore updates, and its latest offering, Ingrid, will finally make her mainline series debut on May 28 via Street Fighter 6's Year 3 Character Pass.
In a massive potential win for Street Fighter 6, Tifa of Final Fantasy fame is apparently coming to the game in its Year 4 Character Pass, much to the dismay of Tekken fans who've long dreamed of her inclusion.
Ahead of Ingrid's inclusion, Capcom has revealed a three-minute-long gameplay trailer dedicated to the "the extradimensional woman of mystery."
Not only that, but Ingrid herself has decided to take over the Steam page for her DLC announcement, and as first spotted by Automaton Media, she has some thoughts on the whole 6-7 meme.
"Hello there, Terrans! Ingrid here to talk to you directly about how wonderful I’m going to be when I join the Street Fighter 6 roster on May 28! Wow, we’re already on the sixth installment. Feels like just a few seconds ago when I graced you with my presence, albeit not in any mainline series," the post reads in part. "How do you Terrans say it? “It’s been a long time coming” and some obsession with the numbers “6, 7” that you all started saying. Sigh, Terran civilization has a long, long road ahead of it."
Unfortunately for Ingrid, it seems the 6-7 meme has long since passed and has been replaced by God knows what. Capcom might be just a teensy bit late to the party, but given their recent output of games, we'll forgive them for not keeping track of all the memes.
Street Fighter 6 Has A DLC Problem
Terry Bogard is sick, but Capcom’s DLC strategy isn’t doing it for me.
Other Games Have Tried To Jump On The 6-7 Craze As Well
Street Fighter can't be faulted too much for trying to hop on the viral 6-7 craze, as other games have done the same. When Deadpool was added to Marvel Rivals, he referenced everything from Hawk Tuah to Morbin Time, as well as 6-7.
Then, when South Park made its way to Fortnite, the microwave on Butters' mech suit is set to — you guessed it — 67 seconds. That one was a little less blatant, but the point still stands — if gaming companies can, they will try and take advantage of some viral trend, as cringe-worthy as it may seem.
