It looks like the rumours of Kingdom Hearts getting a proper Switch port might have had some truth to them, as the infamous cloud release has randomly had its demo versions removed.

Ever since the launch of the Switch 2, Square Enix has made it incredibly clear that it plans to port over several of its biggest games and franchises to Nintendo now that it has a console powerful enough to handle them. We've already seen how well that went for Final Fantasy 7 Remake last year, and that success is set to continue with Rebirth in a few weeks time.

If there's one Square Enix series that stands out as the perfect fit for the Switch, it's Kingdom Hearts, which was unfortunately relegated to an awful cloud version a few years ago instead of getting a native port. It's previously been claimed that a native release is coming to the Switch 2, and those rumours just reignited after a strange change to the cloud version was spotted.

Kingdom Hearts Cloud Version Demos Have Randomly Been Removed From Nintendo eShop

Some Simple (And) Clean Up, Or A Sign That Something Bigger Is Coming?

As pointed out by Twitter user KHMLTomorrow, the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 Cloud Version's Nintendo eShop page has been updated out of nowhere to remove the demo that was previously available for it. You can still buy the Cloud Version as of the time of writing, but the free demo has been completely removed from the US and Japan eShop listings.

There's No Excuse For Kingdom Hearts Not To Be Native On Switch 2

With the Switch 2 being a more powerful console, Kingdom Hearts shouldn't have to be cloud-based anymore.

It's not entirely clear why Square Enix has suddenly deleted demos for a game that has been up and running (well, just about) for more than four years, but it is interesting considering all of the rumours of a native Switch 2 edition. Many think that Square is paving the way for a proper release on Switch by trying to draw any potential buyers away from what could soon be an obsolete port.

Of course, for now it's just rumours and speculation, as we haven't heard anything official about Kingdom Hearts coming to the Switch. The demo being removed could just be a bit of clean-up on Square's part and not a sign of something bigger, like we're all hoping. Kingdom Hearts does seem like a no-brainer on Switch 2, though, so here's hoping there's finally some good news for fans.
