One of the most prominent and important features of your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island is setting your town tune, the jingle that plays when you interact with your islanders. Isabelle lets you customize your ACNH tunes, but thinking creatively can be tough if you’re not musically inclined.
Even with a seven-second time limit and a limited range of note options, you can still work some impressive musical magic to get your town sounding its best. We’ve found a handful of the best, catchiest, and most iconic town tunes that you can create for your island tunes in Animal Crossing.
Updated on May 2, 2026, by Kaitlyn Peterson: While we continue to wait for any word on a new Animal Crossing game, we've added a few new tunes to help you keep your New Horizons' island feeling fresh, especially following the release of games like Pokemon Pokopia and Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream!
Totoro Theme
My Neighbor Totoro
A top-tier candidate for the most enchanting family-animated movie in the world is My Neighbor Totoro by Studio Ghibli. It follows a family that moves into an old house in the countryside, where the two young daughters encounter various spirits, including the huge and cuddly Totoro. You take one look at him, and you can instantly hear his music in your head.
To hear it outside your head and in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can match your town's theme to the notes in the image. This will allow you to listen to the sweet little theme for this Ghibli mascot anytime you play, and imagine what it would be like to have Totoro as a villager.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Complete Villager List
There are hundreds of villagers to invite to live on your island in ACNH, which is why narrowing it down to just ten is the most difficult part!
Sans Theme
Undertale
A large focus of the Undertale fandom is on a lazy, and arguably apathetic, skeleton with mysterious powers named Sans. He's quietly observing your actions throughout the entire game, but you're generally pleased to see him when he shows up. A major reason for this is likely due to the classic tune that plays in his presence.
While Undertale and Animal Crossing: New Horizons are as different as night and day, that doesn't mean the Sans Theme can't make a great addition to your town. By having this Town Tune, you can imagine that Sans is watching the development of your town from somewhere off-screen.
"Never Gonna Give You Up"
Rick Astley
If you're deep into internet meme culture, perhaps the iconic Rickrolling song, 'Never Gonna Give You Up,' is the perfect way to complete your island. And if you don't know what Rickrolling is, click here to find out!
Although you can't share a link in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to get your friends with this classic joke, having it as your island song is sure to be just as unexpected by any island visitor, and get a good chuckle out of them.
The Chocobo Theme
Final Fantasy
The Final Fantasy series seems to float casually between extreme drama and sequences where you need to do stuff like catch frogs in a swamp. Some of the earliest entries raised the stakes super high, but all that tension was taken away when you got to ride a Chocobo for the first time.
The Chocobo Theme is a fun little ditty and a truly cheerful tune. Put this on, and you'll be smiling every time you hear it. Then we can all dream of the day that some mod out there makes it possible to invite a Chocobo Villager to move into our towns.
A Town With An Ocean View
Kiki's Delivery Service
Studio Ghibli fans are sure to enjoy Leia Leilani's town tunes video, themed entirely around the anime studio. It includes songs from Ghibli classics such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, and Howl's Moving Castle, among others.
Some tunes have multiple versions, meaning you can take your pick, but this one takes us straight to Kiki in the bakery. It also has a second part that follows on, making us wish we could use both!
Welcome To Dangan Island
Danganronpa
Danganronpa is one of those series where you're either mostly indifferent about it or absolutely love it. If you're the latter, then you likely can't get enough of the characters, the twists, and even the music.
While Animal Crossing is nothing like Danganronpa, and you unfortunately won't be solving any murders on your island, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the same music here and fantasize about hosting your own island trial with all your villagers.
"The Final Countdown"
Europe
These ACNH island tunes cover a wide range of themes, including gaming, general music, and holiday songs. Another firm favorite, from this selection by Jvgsjeff, is the Final Fantasy 7 airship theme.
However, we've chosen 'The Final Countdown' by Europe instead because it's so iconic and recognizable, and always has been. This version pulls from the exact part of the song that you'd expect and will leave you singing the rest in your head.
Route 201 Theme
Pokemon Diamond And Pearl
Just like the various pocket monsters getting sucked into Poke Balls, you yourself can't escape the popularity of Pokemon. It's a series that has built itself on solid gameplay, a massive roster of colorful creatures, and a competitive community.
With Generation 4, we got several lovely tunes in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, and this is the music behind Route 201. While you can't physically recreate this Pokemon route in ACNH, you can still dress up your Villager like a Pokemon Trainer and embrace the vibes.
"It's A Small World"
Disney
This compilation of Disney town tunes by Alex Brandenburg features music from the iconic Disney series Frozen, Tangled, Moana, Aladdin, as well as several other classic movies from the Disney vault.
Despite the rich selection of options in the collection, we couldn't help but pick this iconic Disney earworm, 'It's A Small World,' from the ride of the same name in Disney World. After all, haven't you always gotten off that ride thinking, "Man, I wish I could hear that song again!"
Toss A Coin To Your Witcher
The Witcher 3
If you were cranking up the volume when 'Toss A Coin To Your Witcher' came into our lives, from the game or Netflix's The Witcher, we have good news: the instant classic can now be recreated in your town and is sure to have you singing along each time. Thanks to Epiphajinie, we are now feeling Jaskier's vibes on our island.
Who knows, maybe it will even inspire some generosity from your island visitors. All together now, "toss some bells to my villager, oh island of plenty, oh island of plenty." It might catch on, especially if you leave out a tasteful donation box to pair with the performance.
