It is great to see the SPUR telemetry standards being used for the first time by AskNews. These common standards for measuring and reporting allow the Guardian to understand the value our work brings within the AI environment and take decisions on where to focus our energy and resources. AskNews is delighted to welcome The Guardian to our publisher programme! Research and high-stakes decision platforms rely on high quality source material from publishers like The Guardian. Meanwhile, publishers deserve a clear view of how their journalism is being used and the value that is being extracted. This is precisely the relationship AskNews aims to foster. This agreement wasn't one of our typical licensing engagements. The Guardian helped shape important technical and contractual decisions that other publishers in our corpus will benefit from for years to come. The SPUR Coalition telemetry component is central to tracing how reporting is used inside AskNews, from retrieval to grounding and citation. Our publisher dashboard and API make that activity visible to the publishers behind the journalism. We gave OpenClaw the AskNews CLI and a daily task: investigate CVE reports from the last 24 hours. It searches news and X, follows promising leads, digs into advisories and patches, then checks our repositories’ lockfiles for potentially affected dependencies. The result: a daily report on what might affect us, why it matters, and what to check next. Not just another feed of CVE alerts. An agent that follows up. Forecasting benchmarks on real-time information is the only way to truly measure LLM extrapolative abilities. FutureEval by Metaculus has that pinned down, after 2 years of refinement, they've identified that the quality of the deep research in these systems plays an integral role. Obviously - that's great news for AskNews, but it's also a good indication of how great context engineering is all that matters for LLMs to become truly useful.
