This page contains IGN's Walkthrough for What Lies Unseen, the tenth main quest of The Witcher 3's first DLC expansion, Blood and Wine.

This mission is only available if you sought out Orianna in the main quest The Night of Long Fangs.

Entering the Cave

The mission starts you off in a boat amidst a rainy backdrop and a city in chaos. Head towards the marker as you enjoy the scenery and talk to Regis, then get out of the boat once you hit the shore. Walk up the steps and interact with the cave door to open it.

Once inside, follow the path and hop into the water. Dive and start swimming through the tunnel, passing the opening on the right and continuing left. Exit the water and head into the next tunnel. Continuing running through until you reach a room filled with lights.

The Unseen Elder

This vampire is quite powerful, eh? Pick either dialogue option and the result will be the same. Once you wake up, use your Witcher Senses to pick up all your dropped gear, along with some Enhanced Swallow. Use this potion and you'll end up passing out again.

Wake up a second time and head through the only exit. You'll find yourself in a cavern with abandoned ruins and waterfalls. Drop down and examine the waterfall flowing upward. Nearby the waterfall is a note left by a mage. From here, turn back towards the tunnel you entered through, but this time continue running past into a different entryway.

Here the path will split in two. The quest wants you to continue on the straight path, but taking the path on the left will lead you too a room with three Protofleders. Defeat them and scour the room to find two pieces of the Hen Gaidth outfit.

Get back on the main path and continue on. Defeat the two Protofleders and use your Witcher Senses to find another set of footprints leading up the rocks. Climb up and follow the tunnel that will lead you across the bridge and to another campsite. Read the next note, then walk over to the wall where the water begins to flow against the wall.

Warping Waters

Watch the cutscene as Geralt runs up the wall and starts walking along the ceiling. Nothing crazy, right? Once there, open the chest in front of you to get the two remaining pieces of gear for the Hen Gaidth outfit.

Run along the path and you'll run into yet another Protofleder. Defeat it, then examine the nearby body of the mage. Read the note, grab your new sword, and snag the offering that's hiding near the short wall by the river. Back track a bit, then jump and grab onto the ledge to get to the center of the room.

Use Aard to knock down a giant piece of rock. Hop down the waterfall use said rock to reach the other side of the broken bridge. Follow this path and it'll take you back to the Unseen Elder. When it's your turn to speak, make sure to select the following dialogue option or you'll end up getting an isntant death:

  • Dettlaff spells trouble for you.

With that over, you'll leave the cave and speak some more to Regis outside. Select the option to go straight for Dettlaff if you want to start the Tesham Mutna mission right away.
