The Beast of Toussaint

This page contains IGN's Walkthrough for The Beast of Toussaint, the second main quest of The Witcher 3's first DLC expansion, Blood and Wine.

Take Down the Giant

Don't let the beautiful landscape and scenery fool you! A Golyat will spring through a nearby windmill, starting a battle.

The Golyat has powerful attacks, but they take him a bit to charge up the power to do so, leaving you time before and after a swing to attack the monster.

Using Quen in this fight can be quite useful as the giant does not have too many consecutive attacks. If he breaks your shield, you'll have enough time to use another one before the next hit.

Investigate the Murder

After you take down Golyat, follow Milton down to the bank of the river. Use your Witcher Senses to find footprints near the dock, then follow them to the shallow water on the left.

Here you'll encounter a group of Scurvers. Using Necrophage Oil is quite effective against these monsters. Try to have the close together once one is close to dying out. Just before they are killed, they will explode and hurt anyone in the surrounding area!

Once the monsters have been taken care of, use your Witcher Senses again to investigate a net near the wooden pole. After that, hop into the water and dive down to find a Handkerchief monogrammed with "d.l.C." to find the next clue. Return to the surface and speak to Milton.

Head back up the hill and enter the inn to see if anyone there had anything to do with the murder. Not long after, head to Corvo Bianco to investigate further.

Defeating a Bruxa

Call for Roach and head to the nearby village of Corvo Bianco. Use your Witcher Senses to determine what killed the guards, then head inside the cellar to find a hostile Bruxa.

The Bruxa can be tough to battle with just the sword, but there is a way to quickly take her out. Give her a blast with Aard to have her fall to the ground, then quickly run and give her a mortal stab to end the battle. If you plan to fight normally, using Yrden can expose her when she goes invisible.

After the vampire is no more, investigate the body. With your new information, follow your maker to find Palmerin who will take you to the Duchess at the battle arena.

A Fight Gone Wrong

A Shaelmaar will go lose in the battle arena, and it's you (surprise) who has to stop the monster.

The Shaelmaar is covered in rocky shell, so hitting it from the outside will not do much in damage. You want to get the Shaelmaar on its back to expose its weak belly. In order to do this, you'll want the Shaelmaar to roll into a wall. Using Aard will alert the monster to your location, causing it to roll full force in your direction.

NOTE: If you are going for the "Embodiment of Five Virtues" achivement/trophy, you must spare the Shaelmaar.

After the battle, Anna will take you Damien to discuss the recent murders. Some critical thinking later, it's revealed that the next victim is Milton who is currently hiding in Toussaint's traditional scavenger hunt! Of course!

Unicorn Horns, Golden Fish, and Phoenix Eggs, Oh My!

With no idea where Milton is hiding, you have no choice but to participate in the scavenger hunt... but on your own terms! First up, the Unicorn Horn!

Follow the marker to the nearby horse, but grabbing the horn won't be that easy. After it runs away, use your Witcher Senses to find snacks from the picnic blankets. Since the Fruity Cake will do you no good, find the Basket of Carrots and head for the horse.

With horn in hand, head towards the dock with all the boats. All you have to do here is dive in and find the Golden Fish. Use your Witcher Senses to find it. If you look at your map, the Golden Fish will be on the edge of the yellow circle, closer to shore.

Now that you have both items in hand, follow your marker to find Anna with the Phoenix Egg. Watch the next few sets of cutscenes as you find a dead Milton and the mysterious killer. As you chase after him, the quest will end and Blood Run will begin!
