The Calm Before the Storm is a main quest in Skellige. This quest ties right into “Missing Persons” and “Nameless.” All three quests flow together.

The Calm Before the Storm Walkthrough

The video walkthrough addresses all three quests, as if they were one. This series of quests starts immediately after “Echoes of the Past.”

Ciri and the masked elf from earlier teleport to Skellige. Ciri is wounded and the elf leaves her in the care of some locals. When Ciri wakes up, you will have control of her. Answer the dialogue as you please. The locals are kind. The sister, Astrid, will lead you to the sauna.

Head inside and disrobe. You may either put a towel on or not. If you choose to not wear a towel, you will get dialog about Ciri's tattoo -- a red rose on her thigh. The origin of the tattoo is discussed in the Witcher novels. In The Tower of Swallows (chapter 2), you learn about her getting the tattoo while she was helpd captive by a group of bandits named The Rats. Ciri's girlfriend, Mistle, has the same tattoo.

If you chose to keep your towel on and your legs covered, the dialog scene will be about Ciri's modesty. There are additional dialog choices that don't impact the story and only provide more background. You can choose to lie about having been in a shipwreck and tell Astrid that you like Craven or that you prefer girls (a throwback to her history with Mistle in the novel).

Head outside after the cutscene and jump into the water to cool off. Then go by the tree and have a shot of whiskey. Doing these two things will allow for health regeneration for the remainder of the quest.

Go back into the sauna, change, and go to the stables where Craven can be found. He is preparing a horse for Ciri. Engage with him how you wish -- it'll result in a quick kiss, but nothing more, either way. It doesn’t take long for the Wild Hunt to attack. Fight off the Wild Hunt and their hounds. Don’t forget about the Blink ability if you need to do some crowd control. When the Wild Hunt is defeated, ride off with Craven to meet the elf at Drowned Dead Rock. When you arrive, a cutscene will play out and the flashback ends.

Back in the garden, Yennefer used quite a bit of magic from the garden. The locals are furious and despise her. The two of you do conclude that Ciri is no longer in Skellige and that the ugly creature named Uma is somehow involved. You may remember Uma from the Bloody Baron’s keep. It’s time to track that thing down.
