A Princess in Distress

A Princess in Distress is a quest that has nothing to do with royalty. This quest, which is required to advance the main quest Family Matters, involves a bell, a goat, and a bear. Oh my!

A Princess in Distress Walkthrough

When you arrive at the Pellar’s hut in Blackbough, just follow the marker to arrive swiftly. Outside the hut, you will encounter a group of angry guards who are pounding on the Pellar’s door.

It turns out that the guards are mad that their friend got sick following the Pellar’s medical advice. Diffuse the situation by either fighting them or the easier way, by sharing your own medical advice. When the guards have moved along, go talk to the Pellar.

The Pellar is weird and talks in third person, but he does seem to know something about the baron’s wife and daughter. Unfortunately, the guards scared off his pet goat, Princess. He won’t be able to help you without his goat. He gives you her favorite bell and asks you to find her.

Go off into the woods behind his hut and ring the bell with the top right shoulder button (R1/RB). When the goat hears the bell, she’ll cry out making her super easy to spot when using your Witcher Senses. Make sure to kill the wolves between you and the goat. Also, pick any plants with strawberries or raspberries you see. The goat will eat them on the walk back, which will slow you down.

When you arrive at the goat, ring the bell and she'll follow you. Head back to the Pellar’s hut. Roughly half way back, the goat should run off. Catch up to Princess and save her from a nasty bear that appears. Cast Quinn to shield yourself and attack the bear. Stick to its side and use heavy attacks, use Igni to weaken the bears defence. Try attacking the bear by its side the whole time, and it should go down rather easily. Loot the bear and lead Princess back to her owner by ringing the bell.

When you arrive, the Pellar is happy and helps you find the baron’s family with some magic in the quest Family Matters.
