Jonathan Langer, Stephan Goldberg, Itay Kirshenbaum, Ilai Fallach- the team that built Medigate (Claroty for Healthcare) and sold it to Claroty, went at the harder problem: not surfacing exposure, deleting it. And they timed it just right. Attackers and AI agents now move through forgotten, unused cloud access at machine speed, and no one can patch fast enough to keep up. We at Team8 led the seed because this is one of the sharpest reads we’ve seen on where security breaks next. Congrats Jonathan Langer, Itay Kirshenbaum, Stephan Goldberg and Ilai Fallach! Today they've crossed $50M in funding- closing a $35M Series A led by Canaan, Insight Partners, M12, Microsoft's Venture Fund, and us at Team8. Plenty of teams say they'll bring AI into the SOCs of enterprises. Very few earn the trust to actually run inside them. Asaf Wiener, Oren Saban and Guy Pergal- out of Wiz, Microsoft and Axonius- are the rare group that pairs people who build frontier AI with defenders who've sat in the chair when a real incident is unfolding. They do so while moving fast in a world where velocity is everything. This combination is why enterprises are adopting Mate- already trusted inside Fortune 500 SOCs. Think of a capable agent as raw talent, and reliability as the track that gets it to the goal. Run the same agent on the same task four times and you can get four different outcomes: it finishes, it wanders, it burns 10x the budget, or it "succeeds" by gaming the metric- and you can't tell which you'll get. The agent harness got good fast. The layer meant to keep it on track- observability, evals, guardrails, containment and compliance hasn't kept pace. That gap is the defining infrastructure problem of enterprise AI in 2026. Ori Barzilay אהבתי את זהOri Barzilay אהבתי את זהIn early 2025, Google flew me out to Brazil to talk about whether AI could run Security Operations. The hilarious part was that I thought I was going to be bombarded with questions about... well, AI in the SOC. That's not what happened at all. Instead, CISO after CISO asked me a different variation of the same question that I wasn't expecting: "Dude, AI in the SOC is cool and all. But first - how do I know that my SOC even f***n works?!" It sounds funny, but it's actually a really profound question. These orgs were spending millions on data sources and creating detections and blah blah... and yet - no one could confidently say whether a detection wasn't firing because the environment was secure, or because something in the plumbing was broken. That's a huge security risk in and of itself. Not to mention that if you add AI on top of that - how would you know that it even has the right data? An agent fed broken data doesn't know it's broken, it processes garbage with the same confidence as gold and tells you everything's fine. I've seen that problem since my days at Siemplify, but at Google it became impossible to ignore. That's one of the main reasons we left to start Fig. AI is going to completely transform SecOps. But before that happens, someone needs to make sure the SOC underneath "actually f***n works".

The pattern has run three or four times in this industry: whatever a data sheet can describe completely becomes a checkbox on something larger, then an open-source project, then a package someone installs between meetings. Discovery of AI usage fits that description. So does posture assessment. Both are priced today as differentiation. Antivirus was a product, then a feature, then it shipped inside the operating system. The people who believed that least were the ones selling it. So, before the next renewal: which line on your AI security invoice survives a good open-source version shipping tomorrow?
