Boris Benchev posted thisThe "Death of the Developer" is a Myth. Here is what’s actually happening. I keep hearing that AI is going to make software engineers obsolete and/or take white collar jobs. It’s a catchy headline, but it usually comes from people who don't understand the difference between writing code and engineering systems. Writing code is just the implementation detail. Engineering is about context, validation, and solving business problems. We aren't disappearing; we are evolving into Agentic AI Engineers. The shift isn't about "prompting" a LLM to one-shot a feature. It’s about building a specialized ecosystem for AI agents to function autonomously. This is the Agentic Engineering framework: 1. Context Engineering: Stop feeding it everything. Engineering the exact, high-density context an agent needs to reduce probabilistic hallucinations. 2. Agentic Validation: Building automated loops where the agent doesn't just "guess," but runs integration tests and UI screenshots to verify its own work before you ever see it. 3. Agentic Tooling: When an agent hits a wall, you don't do the work for it. You build a CLI tool or a Skill so the agent can solve that class of problem forever. The gap between "Vibe Coders" (copy-pasting prompts) and "Agentic Engineers" (building self-correcting systems) is widening. If you're still vibe coding in the traditional sense, you're probably behind the curve. Coding by hand and/or vibe coding is becoming a hobby. Onwards and upwards to new valuation highs with many multiples of 11B!Boris Benchev shared thisWe raised $500M at an $11B valuation to transform how people interact with technology. We are using the funds to double down on ElevenAgents, which enables enterprises to deploy voice and chat agents with the reliability, integrations, testing, and monitoring required for large-scale customer operations. Today, we upgraded our agents with faster response times and improved expressiveness using our new turn-taking system and Eleven v3 Conversational. ElevenLabs closed 2025 with over $330 million in ARR, driven by rapid enterprise adoption of ElevenAgents. ElevenAgents customers include Deutsche Telekom, Square, the Ukrainian Government, and Revolut for customer support, conversational commerce, citizen engagement, internal training, and inbound sales. We will continue investing deeply in research. Our focus includes empathetic conversational models, dubbing, and audio general intelligence, and bringing those advances into products used at scale. The round was led by Sequoia Capital, with Andrew Reed joining our board. Andreessen Horowitz quadrupled down and ICONIQ tripled down. New investors include Lightspeed Venture Partners, Evantic Capital, BOND, alongside continued support from existing partners.

Forbes published a profile on ElevenLabs this week, looking at how our Co-Founders, Mati Staniszewski and Piotr Dabkowski, started the company and the work that has shaped us since. AI audio has come a long way in three years - from early limits in quality to systems that now feel natural to interact and create with. Seeing that shift increasingly recognised in the mainstream is rewarding given the work that’s gone in, and motivating because the job isn’t done. We remain focused on improving how people interact with technology, so that creating and communicating with computers feels natural and human.

Boris Benchev reacted on thisBoris Benchev reacted on thisTwo weeks at ElevenLabs - although my body insists it's been a month. Time works differently here. I also just graduated from onboarding (yes, that's a thing here, and yes, I'm weirdly proud). Some honest observations: ▪️ The pace is insane. There's no runway, no ramp-up period. You onboard while sprinting. ▪️ And yet - it's the best onboarding I've ever been through. Fast, sharp, interactive. You learn by talking to ElevenAgents, listening to Gong calls, joining live sessions. Learning and doing at the same time. That's why it sticks. ▪️ There's no "coffee week" to meet everyone. I still think that matters, but you don't get the chance - the work pulls you in on day one. People are incredibly welcoming, just always mid-sprint. ▪️ These are, without a doubt, the sharpest people I've ever worked with. Very smart, very driven, and no ego. That combination is rarer than you'd think. ▪️ The operations and tooling are the best I've ever seen. Not because the tools are best-in-class (they are), but because everything is wired together with AI. You sit in the cockpit, you prompt, and the rest orchestrates itself. I've never experienced anything like it. ▪️ Honest truth: this is not a place for most people I know. You need to be an entrepreneur to figure things out yourself. You need to be truly AI-native or you fall behind in days, not months. And ego fails here on day one. Experience helps - but learning speed and independence decide everything. Two weeks in, and I've learned more than in some entire years of my career. That, more than anything, tells me I'm in the right place.

А защото AI постепенно се превръща в умение на всеки инженер. 😎 Както никой днес не казва: „Аз съм Internet Engineer, защото използвам Internet.“ 🌐 Или: „Аз съм Cloud Engineer, защото знам какво е AWS.“ ☁️ Същото започва да се случва и с AI. Software Engineer + AI Developer + AI Architect + AI Tester + AI Product Manager + AI Designer + AI → просто професионалист, който умее да работи с AI. И тук идва любимата ми ирония: Вчера питахме: „Ще замени ли AI Software Engineers?“ Днес въпросът е по-скоро: „Кой Software Engineer няма да използва AI?“ 😏 AI Engineering вероятно няма да изчезне. Но постепенно ще престане да бъде екзотична длъжност и ще се превърне в част от инженерната грамотност. Тоест… AI Engineer като професия може да умре. 💀 Само за да се роди нещо много по-интересно: Software Engineer, който по подразбиране умее да работи с AI. 🚀 И това, според мен, е много по-голямата революция. P.S. Andrew Ng вероятно би добавил: „Има един чудесен курс за това.“ 😂

The question is no longer just what agents can do - it's how customers experience them. Because customers don't think in touch points. They remember how your brand made them feel. Whether they're asking a question before buying, getting help during checkout, or reaching out weeks later, every interaction should feel like it's coming from the same company. The same personality. The same voice. That's what excites me most about what we're building at ElevenLabs: giving enterprises the ability to deploy AI agents with a consistent, recognisable voice across the entire customer journey. Not because consistency is a nice-to-have, but because trust is built one conversation at a time. A huge thank you to the IQPC Exchange team for bringing together such an engaged group of CX and retail leaders. I came away with plenty of ideas - and even more excitement for where the industry is heading. Looking forward to continuing the conversations. We have quickly build a phone application with the Ionic technology in a Hackathon competition. The idea for the application was to exchange contact information with people you meet using face recognition. Most people assume AI struggles inside companies because the technology is still immature. What I’ve seen, especially in Romanian, is simpler and more uncomfortable, AI usually fails because we choose the wrong processes to automate. In labs, AI works in clean, stable conditions. Inside companies, processes evolved with exceptions, workarounds, and parallel systems. When AI is integrated into tour he business processes, we instinctively start with the most painful process, the one everyone complains about. That instinct is costly. You should start with the quiet processes that consume hours every week. In my opinion, this single distinction explains why 95% of automation projects never reach impact.
