I joined ElevenLabs to build the SDR motion in EMEA from scratch, and what happened next was a team effort in every sense: together with brilliant SDR leaders across North America, India and beyond, we moved from a dominant inbound motion to real outbound and beat quota every single quarter. The SDRs are the ones who made it happen (picture below from one of our latest offsites with the EMEA team in Paris). Along the way we quietly threw out the traditional SDR playbook. AI agents built on our own technology handle qualification at scale, our reps focus on what AI cannot do. That shift is a story for another post. Valerio Bertino shared thisFyxer ran a rigorous bake-off, testing ten transcription providers against speaker-attributed word error rate, the metric that matters most when your product depends on knowing exactly who said what in a meeting. ElevenLabs came out on top with a 20% reduction in WER versus the control. Fyxer didn't just take the benchmark's word for it. They validated it in production with an A/B test across 6,000+ organizations. The result: a 15% relative lift in trial to paid conversion (20.3% vs 17.6%). As Archie Hollingsworth, Co-founder of Fyxer, put it: they tested every major provider and ElevenLabs won on the metric that mattered most, with a partnership that feels like two teams moving at the same speed. This one you sweat through. 🥵 34 degrees, no aircon mercy, and 14 startups who still chose to spend their Wednesday inside OPUS House building instead of escaping to a beer garden. 9+ hours later, fueled by 60+ ice creams and at least one fully drenched t-shirt, every single team walked out with a Revenue Engine running on their real go-to-market. The format was simple on purpose. 4 tools. 1 day. Build something that actually works. 🚀 What made it click was the people in the room. HubSpot For Startups, Clay, lemlist & ElevenLabs. They were in it with the founders, hands on keyboards, solving the messy stuff together. What some teams shipped in a single day was seriously impressive. To every startup that showed up ready to graft, thank you. Round two is coming. We were there at 8am on the dot, ready to hustle. Perfect timing for us . Most of our traction so far has been organic, now it is time to scale and measure. We have 8 weeks to literally smash Twinnin So we used today to build the engine that will scale Twinnin over the next year with focus on the next 8 weeks. Sharper target segments on our ICP's: AI labs, fintechs, content production platforms, production houses, advertising agencies , paired with our two core products: Defend Twin and Monetised Twin. What we walked away with: The most credits I have ever seen THANK YOU guys! Uploaded over 10k customers onto HubSpot Conor Moynagh Gary Corcoran Callum McDonnell ( Callum you were the BEST!) BOOOOOOOM without the partners and support this would have taken us 10 days minimum. One of the most productive days since I started Twinnin and that says a lot! HubSpot and ElevenLabs were our favourites, the support in the room was extraordinary. Brilliant other startups doing brilliant things. Met our favourite ElevenLabs person, Valerio Bertino, in person for the first time. We did not win. We do not care. We are walking out with the engine to smash the next 8 weeks, while we also redo our UX/UI, relaunch our website, get 10,000 twins, and officially launch our World First human likeness smart contract which we are patenting. What we learned today is going to take us to the moon. Of course the coolest Twinnin team ever William Håkon Berg Mary Maller - had the best day out. Valerio Bertino liked thisValerio Bertino liked thisI joined ElevenLabs when we were less than 200 people and, even then, we had a clear picture of what exceptional talent looked like for us. “Exceptional” is a word almost every company uses when talking about hiring (see also; rockstars, A-players, the top 1% of talent). The harder question is: what does it actually mean in your company? The answer will depend on your stage, your culture and the problems you need people to solve. It will (and should!) evolve as you grow. It may flex across functions, geographies and markets. What exceptional looks like in an early GTM hire entering a new region may be different from what you’re looking for in an engineer joining an established team. The underlying bar needs to be clear. At ElevenLabs, we look for proof of excellence in every candidate we interview. That can show up in lots of ways: an unusually steep trajectory, outsized impact, extraordinary depth in a particular craft, building something from zero, consistently operating beyond the scope of a role or achieving something genuinely difficult. For an early-stage company, I think this is worth defining much earlier than people sometimes assume. A good place to start is with your strongest people. 1. What made them stand out when you hired them? 2. What have they done since joining that confirmed your judgement? 3. Which characteristics keep appearing across your highest performers? 4. What does excellence look like at the stage you’re entering next? 5. How would an interviewer recognise evidence of it? You need to be able to explain, simply and consistently, who thrives in your company and why. The companies that become truly talent-dense are deliberate about the people they bring in. Defining “exceptional” gives you a bar you can actually hire against.
