New Mortal Kombat 2 Trailer Features Ed Boon Cameo And Techno Syndrome

A new trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 has just dropped, and it's full of nods to the games. It also confirms that some fan favourite characters will make an appearance, like Quan Chi and Noob Saibot.

However, perhaps the most exciting part of the trailer is that the beloved 1990s earworm, Techno Syndrome, is used. If you don't think you know it, you definitely know it. It's the Mortal Kombat song, and it's back again - and hopefully in the movie itself. Oh, and Ed Boon is here as well, likely getting a cameo in the film as a bartender serving Johnny Cage.

The trailer sets up the story for the sequel, and from what we can tell, it's all very similar to the story of the first two games - a tournament between Outworld and Earthrealm. The winner-takes-all prize pool means that Earthrealm is fighting for its very survival, as Shao Kahn wants to add it to his empire.

This means that, unlike the first film, this one appears to be a lot more loyal to the games. We also don't see much of Cole Young, an original character added for the films. It's rumoured that he's going to die in this one, and since the trailer shows him going up against Shao Kahn... yeah. Good luck, buddy.

So, with a full-blown Mortal Kombat tournament, we have plenty of new characters. We already knew Kitana, Jade, and Shao Kahn would be here, but we also get a look at Quan Chi, Baraka, and Noob Saibot - a resurrected Sub-Zero from the last film. They don't call him that by name here, but it's clearly him.

We'll have to wait and see if this film is enough to win over fans. Karl Urban, who plays Johnny Cage this time around, has boldly claimed that this is the best video game adaptation yet, but we'll have to be the judge of that.
