Would you believe me if I told you the PlayStation VR2 was released more than three years ago? Maybe. But would you believe me if I told you that, despite a lack of focus and interest, it continues to get new games? Well, it does, and it's getting a pretty big one next week as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 prepares to take off on a new VR adventure.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Comes To PS VR2 Next Week

Yes, I did say next week. If this is news to you, that's because it's news to everybody. Not only have the Flight Simulator developers been accused of waiting until very late in the day to announce the latest entry in the long-running series' upcoming VR2 port, but it's also been suggested that they don't really seem to care.

These planes are worth the investment if you're seeking speed in MSFS 2024.

The accusations and the Flight Simulator studio's rebuttal come in the wake of the PS VR2 announcement being buried at the end of a presentation discussing what's next for the game. You'd think its arrival on what is effectively an entirely different platform would be headline news, but no. Flight Simulator's PS VR2 port reveal was limited to a couple of sentences, and even though it's supposedly arriving on the headset next week, there wasn't a sniff of how the port might look on PlayStation's VR2.

When a Flight Sim fan took to Twitter to speak of their disappointment about how the announcement was handled, the official Microsoft Flight Simulator Twitter account stepped in to clear things up. The fan even accused Flight Sim boss Jorg Neumann of looking "uncomfortable" when he made the PS VR2 announcement.

"We are extremely excited about our PSVR2 release next week!" the Flight Sim account replied. John Kennedy, the fan who posted their initial disappointment at how the reveal was handled, seems pretty pleased with that, noting that they've always wanted to play the game in VR but had given up hope on ever being able to do that since they're not a PC gamer.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Has Been Selling Well Since It Arrived On PS5

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was added to a growing list of Xbox exclusives released on PS5 at the end of 2025. It was noted in the presentation that the game has performed surprisingly well on PS5, bringing in lots of new players. It joins Forza Horizon 5 in that regard which has reportedly sold millions of copies on PS5.

Despite that, Forza Horizon 6 will still be a timed Xbox exclusive when it launches next month.

It might not be considered one of the big Xbox exclusive dominoes to fall like Halo or Forza, but Flight Simulator making the jump to PS5 was a huge deal. It has Microsoft right there in the name and is older than Xbox itself. There is a chance that it and everything else that is considered quintessentially Xbox will become exclusive again one day, as it was reported this week that there are still exclusivity discussions going on behind the scenes.
