Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed again. The new release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 is November 19, 2026.
Rockstar just announced the delay on social media, ending months of speculation that it would be hit with yet another delay after an already lengthy wait. Rockstar says that this delay will be used to add the "level of polish" that fans have "come to expect" from its games.

"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve," reads a statement shared by Rockstar. "We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City."
While GTA 6 has been in development for some time, we didn't get a trailer until late 2023. In this initial trailer, we were told that the game would be with us in 2025. Then, it was pushed out of 2025 entirely, given a release date of May 26, 2026. Now, of course, we know that isn't the case, and we're now going to have to wait until a full year from now to finally play GTA 6.
While official GTA 6 updates have been few and far between, we have had news from Rockstar recently. Last week, more than 30 workers were fired in what a leading UK union described as an act of union-busting, as those targeted were involved in organisation efforts. Rockstar has denied this, saying the affected workers were fired because they shared "confidential information" with people outside of the company.
Earlier today, there were demonstrations outside of both Rockstar North's Edinburgh studio and Take-Two's London office. Here, workers rejected Rockstar's counterclaim, with one anonymous developer saying that they were fired "without warning [and] without evidence".
