You'd assume that Final Fantasy and Nendoroids go hand-in-hand, but no. It wasn't until last month that Good Smile finally revealed it had some Nendoroids based on characters from the long-running RPG to show off, and now two of those figures are available to pre-order starting today.
Good Smile is kicking its Final Fantasy Nendoroid collection off with five figures, and there are some deeper cuts in there than you might expect. A classic yellow Chocobo leads the way, which makes a lot of sense, but getting the Warrior of Light out there in this first wave is an unexpected, but welcome, twist.
Chocobo And Warrior Of Light Nendoroids Are Available Now
Those are the two figures you can now place pre-orders for through the Good Smile website. The Chocobo figure is ¥6,500 ($41), and the Warrior of Light Nendoroid is slightly more expensive, priced at ¥7,900 ($50). As is the case with most Nendoroids, these figures will only be available for a limited time. The pre-order window is open now, and it will slam shut again on May 6, 2026. They might get a re-release after that, but there's no guarantee Good Smile will ever make them available again.
As is also the case with most other Nendoroids, and what sets Good Smile's iconic figures apart from similar collectibles like Funko Pops, the Chocobo and Warrior of Light come with accessories and swappable faceplates. The Chocobo figure has standard eyes, surprise eyes, and a kicking leg, along with other parts to put it in different poses, while the Warrior of Light's moods are either a serious or sidelong glancing face, and you can equip him with a sword.
Each Final Fantasy Nendoroid also has a bonus accessory - sad eyes for the Chocobo, and a stand with the original FF logo on it for the Warrior of Light. It's unclear how long the bonus items will be available.
The Final Fantasy 14 Nendoroids Aren't Available Yet
The other three characters called up for Nendoroid duty are all from Final Fantasy 14 - Y'shtola, G'raha Tia, and Estinien. We were only shown artwork of how their figures might look as opposed to the real thing, like we were with the Chocobo and Warrior of Light, so it stands to reason that they aren't ready to be shown off properly yet.
The go-to for Final Fantasy collectibles tends to be Final Fantasy 7, and then Final Fantasy 9, if you're lucky. To see the focus fall outside of Midgar to kick off Final Fantasy's long-awaited Nendoroid collection is quite refreshing. Make no mistake about it, this confirms we'll get Cloud and Tifa Nendoroids one day, it's just nice for characters from some of the other games to get the spotlight first.
