Battlefield 6 is a competitive shooter, which means a meta is always going to develop. While it's still very early days in this current version of BF6, some guns have already emerged as standouts. As the game develops and patches come and go, the meta will likely change. This tier list will be updated to reflect the current meta in the game.
A lot of Battlefield 6 is relatively close-quarters combat, which means you'll see a lot of close-range weapons hovering close to the top of the tier list here. With larger maps, other guns might find their time at the top, but for now it's mostly shotguns, SMGs, and carbines.
UPDATE: 2025/11/26 10:55 EST BY HARRY ALSTON
Over 200 hours of Battlefield 6 later...
We've played a lot of Battlefield 6. In that time, we've used two weapons more than any others: the DRS and the QBZ. However, other weapons like the Kord, Mini Scout, AK-205, SGX, the GRT...there are so many options. This is the definitive meta weapon list for Battlefield 6.

Current Meta
The current meta is dominated by SMGs and Carbines due to their much better precision at range. Assault rifles have awful bloom (bullets spread a lot when fired automatically), which means SMGs and Carbines will often out-gun them at range. Many of the maps in Battlefield 6 are quite small, which encourages the use of close-quarters weapons.
That being said, the game is a little different in RedSec: LMGs dominate here, particularly the DRS and KTS (a gun we didn't feature in our multiplayer tier list) because of their larger magazine sizes and ability to shred entire squads. Thermal sights and long-barrel attachments are essential here for your favorite weapon loadouts.
In general, suppressors are firmly at the top of the meta. Removing your soldier from the world map and 3D spotting is invaluable. We've got so many kills just lying down on the floor in the middle of a group of soldiers because the lack of world-spotting renders you basically invisible in some situations.
Alongside suppressors, we've also found extended barrel attachments, thermal scopes, and vertical grips to be the most commonly-used attachments in both RedSec and regular Battlefield 6 multiplayer.
Extended barrel attachments improve recoil at range, including Precision, which is a key stat that determines how much 'bloom' your weapon experiences when firing for long periods of time.
Thermal Scopes are just excellent: they highlight players as white objects on a darker background, making enemies 10x easier to spot. This is great in RedSec but also works well in multiplayer, particularly on busy maps like Eastwood or larger maps like Mirak Valley.
Vertical Grips provide Precision and recoil control, which makes them the meta grip of choice. The ribbed stubby is often quoted as being the meta grip, but we've found the stability and control of the vertical grip to outperform the ribbed stubby in almost all situations. If you have a faster playstyle, the stubby might still be the preferred grip of choice.
S-Tier
Here are the best weapons in the game currently. This is subject to change as the meta develops.
#1 DRS-IAR (LMG) - The Best Gun In The Game
We love the DRS because it's essentially like a beefy assault rifle. While not the sort of typical LMG playstyle you'd expect - slow, lumbering, holding down positions - the DRS allows you to play a little more aggressively. This is ideal for the close-quarters maps in Battlefield 6.
We've reached over 150 mastery level with the DRS using a combination of an extended barrel, suppressor, thermal scope, and vertical grip. It performs excellently at range, either with sustained bursts of fire or by switching the gun to semi-automatic to tap-fire. Its base hipfire stat isn't excellent, but you'll still be able to get shots in up close.
There is nothing as satisfying as the thermal scope and suppressor on the DRS. Ultimately, just the best gun in the game, both for RedSec and regular multiplayer.
Ideal DRS build:
- 20 points on a suppressor
- 1.5x thermal scope (the gun just feels so good with this)
- Vertical Grip
You don't need a laser or any bullet modifications. Keep the rest of the gun stock. This has everything you need.
#2 KORD 6P67 (Assault Rifle)
The Kord 6P67 has excellent precision and control for an assault rifle, with the least bloom of the assault rifles. It's decent out of the gate, but with the right attachments, it becomes a laser. You can comfortably land half a mag of bullets in one spray. The bullets just don't go anywhere except on the enemy you're aiming at: it's like a cheat code.
Damage is lower across the board but results in easier recoil control and less bloom. It's a trade-off, but in a game where hitting your shots is probably more important than the damage those shots do, the Kord is ideal.
This is probably the most beginner-friendly gun in the game and although it's not going to kill enemies as quickly as some of the other guns on this list, it's just so reliable that it has to take second spot.
Best Kord loadout:
- The beefy 30-point lightened suppressor feels unreal on the Kord.
- Vertical Grip
- We use the 2x scope, but this is at your discretion.
- Heavy barrel
- Lightweight ammunition
#3 SG 553R (Carbine)
We had the QBZ at this point for quite a while, but after getting used to the SG 553R we've found the gun to be more consistent, with a higher TTK at close range (which is really important on Battlefield 6's tiny maps.)
It's a little more tricky to use than the QBZ which trades its lower damage for more precision and control, but once you get accustomed to the SG's recoil patterns it's like night and day between how often you win fights in one-on-one situations.
Our current loadout looks like this (we're still experiementing):
- Extended barrel
- Suppressor
- Ribbed stubby
- Regular mags
- Mag catch
- Sight of your choosing
#4 Mini Scout (Sniper)
The Mini Scout could be in a category all of its own. This sniper rifle is actually the best gun in the game, if you can wield it effectively.
There are some key points that make this gun completely unreal: it has 1,100 bullet velocity with an extended barrel equipped. That's the fastest sniper in the game. You really notice the difference when trying to lead shots or getting a snapshot on a distant sniper's head.
Add in the ADS Bolt by default (this allows you to reload without having to put the scope down) and the Mini Scout is both the most versatile close-quarters sniper rifle and the most effective at dealing with multiple targets quickly at range.
You can play the objective when using the Mini Scout. Rather than sitting at the back of the map, the Mini Scout is great at close-range, quick to reload, light to carry, and when paired with a hard-hitting secondary like the M44, you actually have a lot of CQB potential.
#5 L85A3 (Assault Rifle)
The L85A3 is a fantastically versatile weapon that is the definition of a 'jack of all trades.' It excels at medium range thanks to very low recoil and manageable recoil patterns, particularly when you get its first upgrades by leveling the weapon.
Although it doesn't punch as hard as some guns on this list, the lack of bloom when firing over extended periods of time means you can pull off some very satisfying three or four kills in a single magazine.
It's also one of the reasons to consider running an extended magazine on the L8. You can get this up to the max of a 40-round magazine, but that does set you back quite a few points. Ultimately, we prefer to run the vertical grip at 35-points and the most expensive suppressor we can fit.
#6 PW5A3 (SMG)
The PW5A3, which you may recognize as the MP5, is a fantastic early game SMG that will help you dominate close-quarters engagements in Conquest or Breakthrough. It's also a pretty versatile SMG with good recoil control, attachments that benefit ADS speed, and decent medium-range capabilities.
This gun is great in both multiplayer and RedSec, and you'll find that you are able to comfortably compete with players at much longer ranges than you'd expect for an SMG. The gun has minimal bloom when fired for long periods of time and noticeably less kick compared to some of the assault rifles and carbines.
#7 SCW-10 (SMG)
The SCW-10 is a close competitor with the PW5 for the best SMG in the game. This really comes down to personal preference, and generally we prefer the PW5 for RedSec and the SCW-10 for general multiplayer. It has a ridiculously fast time to kill, really stable recoil patterns, and is super mobile for those smaller Battlefield 6 maps.
You will need a slightly larger magazine before this thing really takes off - you can unlock larger mags by leveling the weapon - as well as a suppressor and a decent grip. The 20-round mag is fine, you don't need the full 45-point mag extension as this will remove essential points from other attachments.
Our ideal loadout looks like this:
- Long suppressor
- 20-round mag
- Folding stubby
- Sight of your choosing
#8 M87A1 (Shotgun) or M10 (Shotgun)
The M87A1 is a nightmare to come up against and really fun to use. Fast-paced assault gameplay is a blast (pun intended) with the shotgun, ideal for getting up close and personal in buildings and alleyways.
You don't need to worry too much about the build for this one. It deletes people at close range. Ideal for many of the smaller-sized engagements you'll experience in Battlefield 6.
The alternative shotgun, the M10, is also fantastic. Either of these is very good and it comes down to personal preference. M10 has a faster time between shots, but deals slightly less damage at range.
#9 M433 (Assault Rifle)
The M433 is a surprising assault rifle. It has one of the best TTKs in the game and, with the correct attachments, will often out-DPS a Kord, even at close range. It's not as simple to use as the Kord and will require some attachments to really get going, but considering you can start leveling it right from the start of the game, it's a really strong weapon.
Out of the two builds, we preferred the close-range one:
- Short barrel
- Stippled stubby
- 30 fast mag
- Suppressor
- Basic sight
#10 KTS (LMG)
The KTS is probably the best RedSec gun in the game. It's a little less useful in the regular multiplayer just because it doesn't do much damage really and has a pretty useless TTK for fast-paced gameplay, but wow, it's unbelievable in RedSec.
This thing has basically zero recoil which means you can beam entire teams. Pair this up with a thermal scope and you have a gun that performs like a laser beam DMR... but it has hundreds of bullets.
A-Tier
Just a cut below the very best, but still great guns to use.
QBZ-192 (Carbine)
The QBZ is an excellent carbine rifle in Battlefield 6. It has a fast fire rate, good damage, and with the right attachments it's fantastic at short to medium range. It always just seems to have the right number of bullets to clean up two or three people in one mag.
We love how much precision this carbine has. Compared to many of the assault rifles, for example, the QBZ feels like a total laser. Some of our best matches have come when using the QBZ in close-quarters fights but with the flexibility to both spray and tap-fire for longer-distance engagements.
We toyed with having it at number two, but it's a very tight race between the QBZ and the Kord. Our personal preference is the QBZ, but for the general player, we still think the Kord is a great weapon to learn the game with.
Best loadout:
- We opt for a slower build, so the 35-point vertical grip is a must.
- 30-point suppressor - more suppression always wins.
- We really like the 2.5x scope, but this is up to you.
- 36-round magazine is fantastic.
SGX (SMG)
The SGX has high damage, is unlocked by default from the start of the game, and has unbelievably low bloom at range. We've seen some ridiculous shooting from the SGX so far, and its balance between close-range power out-gunning carbines and assault rifles, and its ability to beam enemies from far away make it one of the best SMGs in the game.
Our typical SGX build makes use of the ribbed stubby and the most expensive suppressor you can stick on. If you want to maximize precision (reduces bloom), swap that out to a vertical grip.
AK4D (Assault Rifle)
The AK4D is the closest A-tier gun that doesn't quite fit into the S-tier. It absolutely has the potential to be an S-tier gun, it's just rather difficult to use.
With the right loadout - we often run a suppressor and thermal scope - the AK4D is an excellent longer-range assault rifle that almost plays like a slightly more agile DMR.
This gun has some pretty major recoil kick when you fire for extended periods, but its potential to four-shot kill enemies at almost any distance still makes it an incredibly viable weapon.
SVK (DMR)
The SVK is a two-shot kill at basically any range. This makes it a fantastic gun at holding down objectives and murdering enemies at range. However, it has some serious recoil and actually landing two shots takes a bit of practice. If you can nail the SVK, though, you've got your hands on one of the best long-range weapons in the game.
But it is tricky to use. Much like the AK4D, this would slot right into S-tier if it was a bit more beginner-friendly. You'll need to practice with the SVK and the right set up to get the most out of this weapon. It's always going to have massive recoil when you fire, but at least with some of the grips you can get a little less bounce between shots.
An ideal loadout might look something like this:
- Thermal scope 1.5x (this is optional if you prefer better range)
- Vertical grip
- Extended barrel
- Suppressor (this thing sounds so good with a suppressor)
NVO-228E (Assault Rifle)
The NVO-228E is a hard-hitting assault rifle modeled on the infamous AK47. Fantastic at medium to long range, but with enough punch to quickly kill enemies up close as well, this is a versatile weapon that can be built for speed and mobility, or a more stationary defensive type of playstyle.
We originally struggled a little bit with the NVO, but more time with the gun has shown us its potential. This thing just hits so hard. It was difficult to go back to weapons like the M4A1 after playing with the NVO for a few rounds because I was used to my gun killing enemies in three shots up close and around four shots at range.
You might miss the precision of weapons like the DRS, Kord, and 205, but the NVO is fun to use.
Best loadout:
- The big 35-point vertical grip
- Suppressor
- Regular ammunition, 2x sight
- Extended barrel
B36A4 (Assault Rifle)
The B36 is a fantastic rifle that has a decent Precision and time-to-kill. It has hardly any recoil once you get the right attachments up, like the vertical grip and lightened suppressor. We almost moved this into the S-tier but when you put it up against the DRS the DRS still wins because of its better tap-firing at range.
Don't be fooled by this weapon's lower precision stat compared to something like the 205. It's a very versatile close-to-mid-range weapon that can also be tap-fired for longer-range fights.
In our current loadout, we've opted for the 35-point vertical grip and the Grim 1.5x 25-point thermal scope. This doesn't leave much room for anything else, especially because we also like to run the 20-point suppressor.
We did try out a close-quarters loadout that included the ribbed stubby and 30-fast magazine with a short barrel, but we found the gun underperformed when compared to other close-range options.
GRT-BC (Carbine)
The GRT is one of our favorite guns in the game. It hits incredibly hard and is an absolute monster at close range. However, it takes a little bit of getting used to and isn't a fantastic gun right out of the gate. You need to spend some time with it, learning how it kicks when you fire, and at which range it is most useful at.
Like the other Bullpup weapon in the game - the TR-7 - the GRT has a lot of random recoil. This is because the gun has a high rate of fire and high damage, which means there's a tradeoff in how easy it is to control. We've played up to 50 mastery with the gun and found it most useful on maps like Siege of Cairo or inside the buildings on Empire State: at close range, almost nothing beats this weapon.
We didn't want to completely ruin the gun at range though, as it's still viable at the sort of 20-30m mark, so we opted for a build that leans into the extended barrel, 35-point vertical grip, and a close-quarters suppressor. Of course, you could rather go for the total close-quarters loadout with the ribbed stubby grip and a fast magazine.
SOR-556 MK2 (Assault Rifle)
The SOR-556 MK2 is a heavy-hitting but slow-firing rifle that has a large magazine. We've managed to pull off some satisfying feeds with the gun, taking out four or five players in a row, but have found the gun to be quite cumbersome to use. It's slow and lacks the close-range potential that you often need in Battefield 6's tighter maps.
It almost functions a bit like a DMR at times. With the Trigger attachment, its semi-automatic fire becomes completely rapid. Being able to quickly transition between automatic for closer-range fights and then swapping to semi for tapping at range is very satisfying. Like many of the guns in Battlefield 6, this one takes a little getting used to.
This thing is a laser beam, but with such a focus on close-quarters fighting, it really doesn't do enough to stand out from the crowd.
M2010 ESR (Sniper)
The M2010 ESR used to rule the roost when it came to sniping in Battlefield 6, but the Mini Scout has cleared it by a mile. It's still a perfectly viable weapon, and you can still do a lot of damage with it if you manage to hit your shots.
Its one major advantage as compared to the speed and versatility of the Mini Scout is its so-called 'sweet spot.' This allows you to potentially one-shot an enemy (hit for 100 damage) at medium range when you hit them in the upper chest area. The sweet spot for the M2010 is between the 70-100m mark. This sweet spot is actually great for the vast majority of Battlefield 6's map as they're fairly small.
You need the ADS bolt on the M2010 to make the gun feel anywhere near as good as the Mini Scout, but to get it you'll need to rank up the gun first. We also recommend the 8x scope for the cleanest sight in the game.
TR-7 (Assault Rifle)
The TR-7 is a volatile workhorse. This thing absolutely shreds at close range but has such significant recoil that it's extremely difficult to wield effectively. You can tap fire this for some okay mid-range and long-range fights, but anything more than that and the kick starts to get unmanageable.
It's powerful, but it's not very versatile. The TR-7 can feel a bit inconsistent. That being said, we've had some impressive feeds with this gun, getting on to the point in Breakthrough and killing three or four people with a single mag. High damage, random sprays into a group of enemy players will usually net you a couple of kills. It hits so hard it still deserves its A-tier ranking.
It's almost not worth going for anything that increases precision or recoil on the TR-7, but because we are creatures of habit, we have once again gone for a vertical grip and suppressor on this. Definitely don't need a thermal scope as anything you're hitting shouldn't be more than 10m away.
L110 (LMG)
The L110 is the starter LMG, but don't let that fool you. This thing is a laser beam. With the optimal grip, suppressor and thermal sight set-up, this thing is a beast in multiplayer and RedSec. Of course, it does require a slightly slower pace of gameplay - you aren't going to beat any carbines or SMGs at close range with this thing - but adapt your gameplay and the L110 is a monster.
It's actually decent right off the rip without having to grind for too many attachments. We usually opt for a heavy vertical grip, a big suppressor, and a 1.50x thermal scope. The hipfire on the L110 is actually decent as well, and its rate of fire makes it more versatile than some of its big cousins like the M/60.
The ideal loadout might include:
- Long suppressor
- Vertical grip
- Thermal scope
- Heavy extended barrel
PW7A2 (SMG)
The PW7A2 doesn't stick out immediately as a particularly useful gun. In truth, there isn't much that this can do that any of the other SMGs do marginally better. That being said, this little weapon shouldn't be overlooked: with the right attachments, it's a laser that can kill enemies quickly.
We love to run a 4X scope (yes, that's correct) with a suppressor. You can beam people up close and at medium range. It almost feels like a little pea-shooting assault rifle, which makes up for lacking damage with plenty of recoil control. The very high rate of fire does sort of make up for the lack of damage, as long as you can hit your shots.
This is our current PW7 loadout if you want to try it yourself:
- Suppressor
- 4x scope
- Basic barrel
- Vertical grip
- Mag catch
B-Tier
Still viable in certain situations, but generally below the general power level and definitely not meta.
UMG-40 (SMG)
We wanted to love the UMG-40, but this SMG is a bit useless in all the key areas. It has fantastic recoil control, which means it's a total laser at range, but not good enough to outmatch many of the other guns on this list. For an SMG, it also falls down in close-range because its rate of fire just isn't fast enough.
We've tried multiple different builds, trying to put emphasis on its longer range potential with a 4x and suppressor, but it doesn't perform as well as the PW7 because of its slower fire rate.
That being said, the UMG-40 is quite a good RedSec weapon because it has a larger magazine and very little recoil. The gun has a better chance of standing out in the battle royale as compared to the busy streets of Siege of Cairo, where it will likely lose most engagements against other SMGs, carbines, or assault rifles.
AK-205 (Carbine)
The AK-205, like its big cousin the NVO, is a fantastic long-range carbine that still does business at close range. However, it has significantly lower damage than most other carbines, and as a result, it can feel a little frustrating to use in multiplayer.
We've seen a little more success in RedSec (where hitting consistent shots is way more important than winning a quick 1v1), but in multiplayer it will often feel like you're outgunned and outclassed by a lot of the other guns in the game.
It's a shame: the 205 is a blast to use. The zero recoil makes this a complete laser beam at middle to long range. With a thermal and suppressor, it feels slick and easy to handle. Ideal for someone perhaps starting to get used to Battlefield 6, but if you want to excel on Battlefield 6's smaller maps, the 205 just isn't going to cut it.
