I had a chance to sit down recently with Ayal Yogev, CEO and Co-Founder of Anjuna Security to get his thoughts on an emerging shift in cloud security, commonly referred to as Confidential Computing. Most companies encrypt data at rest and in transit, leaving a major vulnerability when the data is actually being PROCESSED. Confidential computing solves that by ensuring no one - not even your cloud provider - can see your code or data while it's running. Air Force missions run on software drawn from a vast and complex supply chain, and much of it is closed source. That software has historically had to be taken largely on trust. When someone needs a real answer about one of those files, the work falls to a small number of reverse engineers. In this Phase I we're evaluating how to put that capability in the hands of many more Air Force analysts, across a far greater volume of software. Grateful to AFWERX and the Air Force Research Laboratory for the opportunity, and proud of the team that got us here. Ayal Yogev liked thisAyal Yogev liked thisconsidering recent announcements in the news from various vendors in the data / data pipeline markets 1) Security is such an attractive growth market that these data centric vendors with little to no security expertise (you know the ones) think to themselves "why not go after the security market?". However, holding the data or owning the data pipeline doesn't mean you have the expertise or organizational/security context to do anything meaningful with it...... 2) Throwing an LLM on top of a bunch of SIEM findings does not deliver an agentic SOC - except in marketing 3) The agentic SOC market will follow the path of SOAR - which used to be a stand alone market but now is largely subsumed into security operations platforms ... with a few remaining standalone offerings 4) That the best agentic workflow automation comes from having the best context graphs on which agents can reason over. Better context, better outcomes. This favors either a) larger vendors with more first party offerings or b) smaller vendors with hundreds of connectors to gather context

I was looking for someone who could both build and scale, a combination that is remarkably hard to find. Jason has done it, not once but three times, taking companies like Redis from founder-led sales to predictable, repeatable engines that scaled to hundreds of millions in ARR. Having now led Sales myself for the last year, I fully appreciate that scaling it is more science than art. But the science of SaaS sales broke with AI. One more reason why I am so excited about Jason. He is the smartest sales leader I spoke with in the last six months. He deeply understands how to build playbooks and scale a customer-facing organization, but he is also a first-principles thinker who knows which rules still apply and which need to be rebuilt. Jason arrives at an inflection point for us. Resolve is delivering significant ROI inside some of the world’s largest enterprises, growth is accelerating, and demand is pulling us forward. I’m proud of the team we have built, but given the scale of the opportunity in front of us, we now need to build a world-class commercial organization: exceptional talent, deep customer obsession, repeatable playbooks, and an operating cadence that can keep up with our growth. That is Jason’s craft. The market is arriving at the same time. AI has made it dramatically faster to write and ship software, but not easier to run it. More code means more services, more dependencies, more incidents, and the same engineers carrying the pager. The next chapter of AI in software engineering isn't only about agents writing code. However, there's another concept: operational sovereignty that means no party outside your control, including the cloud provider's own administrators, can read or alter your data or workload. Attackers barely need zero-days anymore. Snowflake, Salesloft Drift, and Vercel-Context.ai were all breached through valid credentials and trusted integrations. And AI is compressing exploit timelines even further, where software boundaries can't outrun. Once an attacker holds a legitimate token, policy offers no second line of defense. Real operational sovereignty has to be enforced in hardware: confidential computing with cryptographic attestation. This approach depends on proper ACME client support for ARI, but that support is not yet universal today. More clients will need to handle ARI correctly as well as ensure that users deploy updated clients with this proper support. It also shows the need for strong monitoring. Both the short-lived 7-day certs and the longer-lived "pseudo-revocation" (quick rotation as signaled by ARI) require certificates to be automatically replaced on a short timeline. If automatic deployment of the new certificate fails, you will experience an outage very soon, if not immediately. So it is important to monitor that certificates were actually deployed, not just issued. Excellent insights from Stephen Davidson, as per usual.

$50M in 10 months - here’s how I think Echo got here: #1 We stayed in our lane. After Argon, we didn’t chase a new market for our second start up. We targeted a problem in the world of container vulnerabilities that we’d seen firsthand with every Fortune 500 company we worked with. #2 We prioritized partners from day one. We understood that ease of use is essential for cloud security solutions, so we started with our partners. We made sure that echo integrates with all of the major container scanners and registries so our customers wouldn’t have to change the way they work today. #3 We hired experts in our space. We brought in engineering, product, and sales leaders who didn’t require training wheels in container security. They built the scanners and tools we now integrate with, bringing tons of expertise with them. #4 We made a deliberate choice to stand out. While deep cloud security experience mattered for building the product, we intentionally brought in marketing and design talent from outside the industry so we wouldn’t sound like everyone else. This Series A round is an exciting milestone, but it’s just the beginning. Big big things are coming, so stay tuned. Lots of opinions still flying around about the Palo Alto Networks + CyberArk deal. Most focus on technical strategy - unified platforms, identity-first architecture, securing AI agents, converging the SOC with PAM. All valid. But, trust me, that's not how $25B software acquisitions get done. This was a sales expansion play. Pure and simple. Palo was shut out of identity budgets. No presence in IAM/PAM/IGA. That's a serious gap when you're competing with Microsoft's platform story or trying to be the "single platform vendor" for security. CyberArk couldn't access network/cloud/SOC budgets at Palo's scale. Strong in regulated industries, but limited distribution beyond their core PAM buyer. Now? Palo Alto's sales team can walk into identity/compliance teams they've never touched. CyberArk gets Palo's distribution engine and 70,000 customer relationships. They'll displace a number of competing solutions with enterprise license agreements and bundled pricing. They'll also optimize operating resources along the way. It's called deal synergy. An actual valid business use of that word. The tech integration story (pumping session telemetry into Cortex, JIT access through SASE) that's table stakes. Every vendor can draw those architecture diagrams and show off fancy sales decks with lots of arrows and cool new features. But you don't write a check this size for API integrations and a joint roadmap. You write it for P x Q. Price times Quantity. New buyers. New budgets. Expanded wallet share across different security domains. The technical strategy is the deck you show the board or investors for credibility. The go-to-market expansion is what underwrites the business case and why you actually do the deal.
