A Feast for a Tenday: The Official Baldur’s Gate 3 Cookbook has been announced as one of four BG3-themed books releasing this year.

Written by Dungeons & Dragons veteran Andrew Wheeler, the cookbook is already up for preorder on Amazon with a release date of November 3. The hardcover edition is priced at $38, while a Kindle edition is down to $14.99 with a 60% discount.

The BG3 cookbook includes 65 recipes inspired by the ingredients, locations, quests, and characters of Baldur’s Gate. The recipes are accompanied by 45 photographs as well as original illustrations, amounting to 208 pages in total.

Unlike most video game-inspired cookbooks, A Feast for a Tenday frames its recipes in the context of the game’s original story. Per the cookbook’s description: “Join the adventure as a cook traveling with Lae’zel, Shadowheart, Astarion, Gale, Wyll, and Karlach from the Wilderness, through the Underdark and the Shadow-Cursed Lands, all the way to Baldur’s Gate.” No love for the Mountain Pass, it seems.

Some of the recipes mentioned in Amazon’s listing include a scotched Owlbear Egg, Neverwinter Soup, and Bex’s Handmade Cookies. The cookbook also includes drink recipes like Frostkiss Ale and Turmishan Tea. Shareable recipes will be designated as “Romanceable,” and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see individual recipes tied to specific romance candidates.

The cookbook’s author, Andrew Wheeler, is a well-known writer in the world of Dungeons & Dragons. He wrote the Dungeons & Dragons cocktail book, Puncheons & Flagons, which offers a reasonable indication of what to expect from this new release. Wheeler has also written the Dungeon Master’s Workbook of Worldbuilding and a number of Young Adventurer’s Guides, so it’s safe to say he knows his D&D.

The cookbook joins a host of official Baldur’s Gate 3 books releasing over the next couple of months. Other highlights include a prequel novel written by the award-winning fantasy author T. Kingfisher about, you guessed it, Astarion. Clarkson Potter will also be publishing a hardcover Necromancy of Thay notebook in July.

In other BG3 news, HBO abruptly announced they were developing a Baldur’s Gate 3 TV series back in February. The news did not go over well with the original devs, who had not been involved in the announcement, leaving a bit of a question mark as to where the project stands now. In the meantime, Larian's focus is on Divinity, a new turn-based RPG that certainly has some high expectations attached to it.

Blythe (she/her) is an Audience Development Coordinator at IGN who spends way too much time in character customization screens and tracking down collectibles.
