Baldur's Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 may make Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 look like the "small kids in the playground," but star hopes it'll "live in people's memory" anyway

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 lead actor Tom McKay says he hopes the RPG lives on in fans' memories even among the massive amount of top-notch RPGs available right now.

In an interview with GamesRadar+ ahead of the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards, McKay, who plays the lovable protagonist Henry in Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel, was asked about his hopes for the future of the game. McKay explains that anything that happens "is not my decision to make" but says "I'm really, really, really proud of both of these games, for what they've achieved, what they are, particularly this character I adore and I've spent more time with than any other character I will probably ever play."

McKay adds, "I hope that both games – but particularly KC:D2, because it's kind of garnered a bigger audience – kind of live in people's memory" in the way that games like Baldur's Gate 3, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Elden Ring have for players. As for those titles, McKay says "I'm aware that we are sort of the small kids in the playground, in some ways, when it comes to those games. But I really hope that in some ways, it kind of lives on and has a longer life than just being something that kind of burns loud and fast this year, and then gets forgotten next."

He explains "I genuinely don't know" about any future plans for Kingdom Come: Deliverance as a series, but that "All I'm left with, which is quite a lot, is this gorgeous experience and this kind of privilege of playing this character, and hoping that it continues to find new audiences, as games do." McKay adds, "I'm just so proud of this character, and I adore him, and I hope that people continue to enjoy playing him."
