When a government agency proposes a rule change like this, they legally must have a public comment period before finalizing it. AND they have to read and respond to those comments in the final draft of the regulation. Not enough people are aware of this , but it can really have an impact!!

Your comment can be as long or short as you'd like- it can just be one sentence! The key is to clearly STATE YOUR SUPPORT for the proposed rule. You can also look at other existing comments for support.
If you have personal experience with disability benefits, especially the reduction of benefits from free meals/groceries, those are great to include. They like to hear from people personally impacted by these changes, or know people who are.
I know it can be intimidating to post a public comment like this but it is SO IMPORTANT to engage with specific policy changes like this. Saying "this is great!" on social media doesn't help governmental officials understand the level of support a change like this has, or how much good it would do.

I may not be able to physically protest, because my risk of dying is higher than an abled person, but still,

President Joe Biden promised Black voters Wednesday that he would appoint progressives to the US Supreme Court if elected to a second term, suggesting he expects vacancies on the high court over the next four years.
“The next president, they’re going to be able to appoint a couple justices, and I’ll be damned — if in fact we’re able to change some of the justices when they retire and put in really progressive judges like we’ve always had, tell me that won’t change your life,” he said during a campaign rally in Philadelphia.
It was as explicit a warning as Biden could offer about the stakes of the upcoming election, and a clear reminder that some of the nine justices have entered their seventies.
Clarence Thomas is 75 and Samuel Alito is 74; both are conservative and appointed by Republican presidents. Sonia Sotomayor, a liberal who was nominated by President Barack Obama, turns 70 next month.
Retirements of any or all of those justices could provide a key opportunity for either Biden, who has named one justice to the Supreme Court, or his Republican rival Donald Trump, who named three during his four-year term.
Just as a point:
- If Trump wins and Thomas or Alito (or both) retire or die, he'll nominate equally or more conservative people and we're still going to have a 6-3 conservative majority. Which is bad.
- If Trump wins and Sotomayor retires or dies, we will have a 7-2 conservative majority, regardless of what Thomas and Alito do. Which is also bad.
- If Biden wins and there is a Democratic majority in the senate, at best he completely flips the court (from 6-3 in favor of the conservatives to 5-4 in favor of the liberals), assuming both Thomas and Alito retire or die.
- If Biden wins, there's a Democratic majority, and no justices retire or die (or just Sotomayor), it's just status quo, which sucks but isn't worse.
- If Biden wins, Thomas and/or Alito retire or die, and a Republican-controlled Senate decides to just not approve any of his nominations to prevent a liberal majority (like they did with Obama trying to replace Scalia), it still evens the playing field a tad. An even split (4-4 or 3-3) is not considered binding precedent, so any cases that go up there can still be resolved on their own, but they don't dictate the outcomes of any other cases.
I will also remind y'all that in light of the recent 34 criminal convictions Trump has, keeping conservatives out of the Supreme Court is even more important. I do not want the inevitable "can someone be president if convicted of multiple felonies?" question to be decided by two hardcore insurrectionists and three people appointed to the bench by Trump himself.
The south may be 30 years behind everyone else with healthcare, politics, and social norms, but at least we have armadillos.

This is oaywalled but it made me weep with relief to see an honest recounting for once, so I’ve saved some good bits:
In 2016, over 75,000 mail-in ballots were left uncounted and discarded because they were received after mail-in voting deadlines, which all vary by state, according to CBS news.
Some states like California allow you to check with the Registrar of Voters on-line to verify both if a ballot has issued and if it was received to help prevent voting errors.
Remember, the most common forms of voter fraud are 1) gerrymandering, 2) voter suppression and 3) foreign participation through both lobbying and online misinformation.

This is the most important election of our times. GOP will use anything they can to suppress Democratic votes. Make sure your vote is counted.
Biden’s 2025 would raise the child tax credits back to the levels they were at during the pandemic, an objectively good thing for literally everyone. Those benefits were slashed by Trump in 2017, and others trailed off after the pandemic “ended”. Biden is going to pay for it by undoing Trump’s tax cuts on wealthy corporations, aka by taxing them more.
You can bet your pants Trump won’t enact this budget if he wins the election.

Jill Stein is not a viable candidate. Your choices are Joe Biden or Trump. You can vote for her all you want, but it's not possible for her to win with how our system works - and unfortunately we have to work with the system we've got, and change is slow.
