Supergiant Games was one of the many developers at the massive Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, and they had great news for Hades fans. Hades 2 is currently in early access on Steam, but the developers have confirmed that the full release will first launch on both the Nintendo Switch consoles.
Hades 2 Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2
The original Hades first made its way to consoles with the Nintendo Switch, and it’s no different for the sequel. Before Hades 2 comes out on other consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X, it will first launch on the Nintendo Switch devices. This includes the original Switch as well as the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

You’ll have to wait a bit, however, because Hades 2 is still in its early access state on Steam. Supergiant Games hasn’t shared an official release date just yet, but there is one more major content update planned for Hades 2, so the release date of version 1.0 will be fairly soon.
On the technical side, Hades 2 will run at 60 FPS on both consoles, while the Nintendo Switch 2 version will take full advantage of the 1080p display. The new display also has support for 120 FPS, but there aren’t details of a 120 FPS mode just yet.
We’re unsure just yet if it will run at 4K on docked mode, but that does seem likely. The official trailer for the Switch 2 version is in 4K, so there’s a good chance that the final release will have a 4K 60 FPS mode as well.
More information about the release date will be shared later this year, but it’s nice to see that many developers are still supporting the original Switch as well. Sure, it won’t look as good as it does on the Switch 2, but they’re still targeting 60 FPS on the original Switch, which is always recommended for an action game, especially one as fast-paced as Hades 2.
The first Hades is a blast on the Nintendo Switch and runs quite well. We expect Hades 2 to make full use of the Switch 2 hardware to deliver a solid action experience that looks the part as well.
