April might be the biggest month for ARPG fans in 2025. All the biggest ARPG games get a major content patch, including some that haven’t released content for almost a year. Here are all the games you should watch to get your ARPG fix in April.
Path of Exile 2’s Dawn of the Hunt – April 4
Path of Exile 2’s Dawn of the Hunt has been teasing a lot of major changes to the endgame and ascendancies over the past few weeks. All will be revealed a week before its launch in a livestream, as GGG always does.
Dawn of the Hunt showcases a new class, several new ascendancies, more unique items, and some endgame changes involving maps and towers. While the game still needs to drastically improve its endgame because the towers don’t sit quite right with most of the player base, they have already had numerous changes.
However, the spotlight goes to the new class, the Huntress, since the 0.2.0 patch is named Dawn of the Hunt. Fans will get to experiment with the new class and you can expect the Huntress to be the most played class for the patch.
There will also be an economy reset to make the patch feel fresher and get everyone back to the grind.
Last Epoch’s Tomb of the Erased – April 17
There has been a lot of drama in the ARPG community regarding the releases of Path of Exile 2’s Dawn of the Hunt and Last Epoch’s Tomb of the Erased. Last Epoch’s new season was set to be released on April 4, but it was ultimately delayed to April 17 to avoid Path of Exile 2’s sudden announcement of their Dawn of the Hunt patch on the same date.
Last Epoch fans have been craving new content updates. Tomb of the Erased is just its second season, and fans have been starved for content since July 2024, when 1.1 Harbingers of Ruin came out.
However, that’s around 9 months of content cooking up, and season 2 has all the hype with crucial endgame changes. Last Epoch is known as the “middle ground” for ARPG fans since it isn’t as simple as Diablo 4, but not as complicated as Path of Exile.
The game shines in many ways, including its awesome crafting system. If you are a fan of ARPGs, I’ll prioritize this one over the others — unless it’s Path of Exile 1’s new season.
No Rest for the Wicked’s The Breach – April 30
No Rest for the Wicked is an interesting ARPG that had mixed reviews. However, the biggest change for the game isn’t what players would expect.
In their official game overview showcase for the Breach update, Moon Studios, the developers, discussed reacquiring their publishing rights for their game to become fully independent. This will allow them to tackle their vision more and unleash their creativity without many restrictions.
With that said, several significant changes and additions are coming to the game, such as the Breach story, building projects, gear, theorycrafting, a new loot drop algorithm, and many more. Since No Rest for the Wicked’s rocky launch, you can already feel the difference in their approach through the showcase and how passionate they are to deliver a great game.
Diablo 4’s Season 8 – April 29
Diablo 4’s Season 8 was also supposed to be released around mid-April but was delayed until slightly later. April 29 is its current release date, and it will most likely be on schedule.
Season 8 plans to add three new bosses to the game, most of which players have already encountered through the Vessel of the Hatred campaign. Belial joins the list of Lair Bosses along with Varshan, Beast in the Ice, Grigoire, and Zir.
Apart from additional bosses, players don’t need summoning materials but must now use Lair Keys to open their loot, allowing players to start the fight even without materials. You won’t get loot, but it is still a slight win for new players.
A new season also brings a new source of power for players, which will mainly come from the boss power mechanic, where players can absorb powers from bases and tap into their own.
Season 8 also brings more unique items, legendary aspects, and open-world events, so it is worth checking out for Diablo 4 fans.
