“I’ve been using Search and YouTube since I got my first computer,” says Alexander, an Austin-based Googler on our Cloud Finance team. “However, it wasn’t until much later that I discovered the global reach of Google’s products.” For Alexander, that realization was the catalyst to apply to work here. Alexander began his journey in Genesis, our finance rotational program. Today, he works on Cloud Compliance and Assurance, where he’s currently leading a major data migration project. “In general, my work ensures Cloud business stays fast, efficient and safe,” he explains. Beyond his core role, Alexander also mentors students. His advice? “First: practice your interviews ahead of time so you feel comfortable without sounding robotic. Second: don’t be afraid to ask questions. You can’t learn anything until you start asking!” Explore our open roles and career opportunities → https://goo.gle/3LY3x2Y

Developers can now preview Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite, our fastest and most cost-efficient Gemini 3 series model yet. It outperforms Gemini 2.5 Flash with 2.5x faster (Time to First Answer Token) response times and a 45% increase in output speed, delivering the speed you need for real-time, high-frequency workflows that scale — at a fraction of the cost of larger models. We’ve also introduced dynamic thinking levels in Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite. This gives you the flexibility to choose the right reasoning depth for every task — from high-volume translation where cost is a priority, to complex workloads like generating user interfaces and simulations. Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite is rolling out in preview to developers and enterprises via the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and Vertex AI. Learn more → goo.gle/3OW9RsK

“Ever since I discovered computer science in high school, I’ve dreamed of working at Google,” says Teo, a London-based software engineer who works on generative AI in the Drive team, developing features like in-context summaries. “I always wanted to build products that impact people globally every single day, and Google felt like the perfect place to do that. I was drawn to the commitment to innovation, creativity and a healthy disregard for the impossible.” Teo’s advice for students seeking a similar path? “I encourage students to view their university years as a period for experimentation and discovery. Instead of focusing solely on academics, I recommend using this time to build a diverse toolkit. Exploring a variety of roles, technologies and locations through different internships will help you gain a deeper understanding of what truly motivates you.” Explore our open roles → goo.gle/3LY3x2Y

Meet Imani, a New York-based Principal Account Manager. In her role, Imani partners with a range of clients to build high-impact digital advertising strategies. Imani’s path to Google was winding: After studying creative writing in both undergrad and grad school, she began her career as a digital marketing manager in the publishing industry. When it came time for a career pivot, Google was a natural choice: “I knew I wanted to stay close to marketing and advertising. As a buyer, Google was always one of my favorite platforms. I also knew a lot about the company and its culture, and I thought it would be a great place to learn and grow as a marketer.” Today, her favorite part of the job is the community. “Everyone I work with is so smart, kind and interesting,” she says. Imani’s biggest surprise after joining Google? The pop-culture connection. “My job requires me to stay attuned to what's trending. My clients love aligning their brands with topical events, so it's super important for me to know about the next big event to keep up with their media strategy.” Ready to make a career change like Imani?
