Please review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer before making a request. Successful applicants must:

• Have an account which is at least 6 months old and which has made at least 300 edits
• Agree to use the IP addresses in accordance with the Foundation's guidelines, solely for the investigation or prevention of vandalism, abuse, or other violations of Wikimedia Foundation or community policies, and understand the risks and responsibilities associated with this privilege

The above requirements are from the Wikimedia Foundation, and are not subject to admin discretion. Additionally, admins must be satisfied that the requesting user has a demonstrated need for access (for example, work at new page patrol, counter-vandalism, or sockpuppet investigations), and are permitted to decline applicants who meet these criteria but are otherwise unsuitable for access to this tool.

Once you have been granted the permission, you must check the box Preferences → User profile → Turn on the ability to display IP addresses of temporary accounts in your preferences.

I've been dealing with repeated vandals who are now nearly impossible to discern based on their temporary user names. As an editor with 20-plus years of Wikipedia editing and a half million edits, I have enough knowledge and experience to use this permission wisely and appropriately for circumstances that would aid in identifying patterns of vandalism. I've been dealing with vandalism to articles for the several hundred high schools in New Jersey that are on my watchlist. The temporary user names have made it impossible to detect if these are the acts of a single vandal rather than a single malicious individual. This has been a common occurrence that would make vandal-fighting that much easier, rather than deleting each as one-time vandalism, which is what I've been forced to do. Hey, I had this permission until the beginning of the year (it was initially granted to me on a temporary basis) and I would like to renew it, preferably permanently. Hello, I am a rather experienced editor in the field of anti-vandalism, having spent many of my hours on this site watching recent changes and making AIV/UAA reports, and I still do it. Considering my interest in fighting vandalism, I believe I should have TAIV rights to help me see potential block evasions and sockpuppetry so I can report them.

I was a fairly active recent changes patroller until recently when I got into doing more content work, though I still do some RC patrolling on and off. I'm requesting TAIV since I'm hoping to do a bit more AV work once curlew sandpiper becomes an FA/fails FAC, which should be soon. I'm a long time RC patroller returning from retirement. I'm also a former account creator and have signed the nonpublic confidentiality agreement to be able to work with the ACC team.
