Borderlands 4 Vex Build Guides
Dead Ringer Build Overview
Dead Ringer is a great early game build that relies on your minions to primarily take the pressure off of you so you can sit back and blast away. The main thing to keep in mind is that you have 3 chargers of your action ability that you should stagger usage of so that you rarely take any damage. The focus for this build will be on ensuring that you can deal more and more damage from a distance while your Reaper taunts enemies to keep them away from you.
Core Strengths
This build is excellent for early-game mobbing and can trivialize boss fights as they will be leass likely to target you as the Reaper taunts them.
- Low pressure gameplay - Reapers take the stress away from avoiding damage.
- High damage output - Easier to land those critical hits from afar.
- Beginner-Friendly - Again, oftentimes you rarely need to move to avoid getting hit.
- Weapon Agnostic - Some other builds rely too heavily on weapon / element type.
Weaknessess
- Boring Action Ability - Summoning a minion that makes the game a little less interesting for moment to moment gunplay.
Weapons / Manufacturers
Weapons
Due to the very high damage potential of their crits it's generally favoured to use a sniper rifle or a high damage shotgun. Due to the low damage output of the reapers, you tend to rely heavily on shooting, this will very likely mean you go out of ammo often. Until you have enough SDU upgrades in your preffered weapon (likely snipers) it's recommended to have at least 1 of each type and one weapon to be Deadulus, to be able to swap the ammo type used (eg a Pistol that also can use assault rifle ammo)
- Jakobs - Typically the highest per shot damage, making it excellent for single targets. When enemies are grouped, the ricochet on crits significantly increases overall damage output.
- Torgue - The explosive damage on these guns is insane and can very quickly wipe out groups of targets.
- Order - On Sniper Rifles, chargeing all 5 shots into 1 very high damage shot, though the increased ammo usage is a negative factor when missing shots.
- Daedalus - Great for when you're running out of ammo and don't want to go into your inventory to swap out another weapon.
- Ripper, Maliwan, Vladof, and Tediore just depends on if the weapon is a significant damage upgrade, and you have a good enhancment to pair it with.
Gear
Class Mods
Largely depends on what's available at the time, raw gun damage is excellent as you may swap often. But finding a good one focused on Sniper damage, reload speed, or accuracy is a great choice. Depending on what you find you might want to favor one gun over another because of these passive benefits. Ordnance
A Ripper Ordnance is a favourite as it teleports instantl to your target. Finding one with Vortex as well will incapacitate many smaller enemies and group them together - a deadly combo with torgue explosive weapons.
Skills
You'll want to foucs first on the blue Dead Ringer skill tree, grabbing anything that is a raw gun damage increase, minions do so little damage comparatively it's not worth it. Working your way down to Dark Pact, giving a second augment slot! and finally Diener, giving an additional minion charge. Next move into the Green Incarnate tree, grabbing passive damage boosts, and finally adding more points wherever you see fit. Kill skills can also be a fun choice, but obviouslly only take effect on a kill, and if there aren't enemies nearby, the effect is useless, but worth considering if you can guarantee themm.
