Fishing in Diablo 4 is the newest mechanic introduced during the release of the DLC: Lord of Hatred. Fishing allows players to sit back for a bit and relax from the constant battles in Diablo 4. It allows players to catch different varieties and rarities of fish scattered throughout the different regions of the Sanctuary via the action wheel. Additionally, players can consume the catch to register it at the archive.

How to Unlock Fishing in Diablo 4?
Players can unlock Fishing in Diablo 4 by completing the Fishing Featured Quest first in the Skovos Region at Shi Yugong's Haven. Players will need to speak with Shi Yugong and catch a fish to complete the quest. Do note that the Skovos Region can only be accessed by purchasing the Lord of Hatred DLC.

Fish Rarities in Diablo 4
Caught fish also come in different rarities. The higher the rarity, the more difficult they are to catch. A fish’s difficulty rating appears on the left once it has been caught and consumed, symbolized by the number of
. Additionally, different rarities provide different selling values. Players can also catch Junk when fishing. The fish rarity is as follows: Common Fish, Magic Fish, Rare Fish, Legendary Fish, Unique Fish, and Mythic Unique.

How to Fish in Diablo 4?
After completing the Fishing Quest from Shi Yugong and obtaining the Fishing Rod, players can start fishing by first customizing the action wheel and assigning the Fishing emote. You can also key-bind that specific slot in the Controls Tab. Afterwards, press the Fishing Emote whenever you're near water to cast your fishing line.

Once you've cast your fishing line across the water, you'll have to wait for the fish to take a bite. An indicator for this is when you see a splash around the end of your fishing line or when you see the fishing icon above your character. Once these appear, you'll have to press any skill button to reel in your catch quickly. Note that you'll have to pay attention as the Fishing Icon can come in anytime and can fade away instantly. Catching a fish will automatically send it to your Consumables inventory, and consuming it will register and archive it.

Each region will grant you a different variety of fish depending on the area where you are fishing. This can be done as long as you are near a body of water. You can also check out the Action Wheel to see if the Fishing Emote is available.

AnonymousWhat's the point of fishing? What do you do with all these fish? Do you get an achievement? can you use them with gear? etc?

This is such a bullshit mechanics. Just a waste of time, yet you are forced to do it if you want Steam achievements (like me). It's so stupid, it pains me to do it.
