After 25+ years working across international business, strategy, consulting, and technology, moving into higher education feels like both a new direction, and a natural extension of what I’ve always enjoyed most, bringing people, ideas and organisations together to create something with impact. My role sits across strategy and planning, with a particular focus on international partnerships, student and industry engagement, and thinking about how universities can respond to a rapidly changing global environment.

Bill Martino liked thisBill Martino liked thisFrontier AI models are good at working out how an unfamiliar system fits together. That happens to be most of what an attacker does after getting in. Which raises a question worth sitting with. When someone lands inside your environment, what is already there waiting for them? Almost always the answer is access. Granted for a good reason, kept long after the reason went away. Some of it belongs there, and it needs vaulting, rotation, and session control. Plenty of it does not need to exist around the clock, and for years there was no realistic way to tell the difference at enterprise scale. That is what Idira Modern PAM is built for. Access that exists while the work is happening and is gone when it ends. Discovery that surfaces what nobody remembers granting. Every identity is privileged. Human, machine, and agentic. https://bit.ly/4g781AF

Bill Martino liked thisBill Martino liked thisIt's my wife's birthday this week. I've always preferred celebrating other people over my own. We built MetaPM the same way. I'd read a lot about culture — values frameworks, leadership books, the usual. Most were interesting. One landed differently. Chip and Dan Heath wrote a book called The Power of Moments. Their argument: the experiences that shape us aren't the long, sustained ones. They're the peaks — the specific moments that feel elevated, connected, or meaningful. Reading it, I realised that's what we'd been doing at MetaPM without naming it. When someone new joined, they got a tub on their desk. Inside: a book, a pen, chocolates, a compendium, business cards, a water bottle, a branded bag. Then a welcome morning tea so they could meet whoever was in the office that day. And I personally inducted every new starter. I knew most leaders didn't. That was the point. When it was someone's birthday, we sang. Badly. As a group. With cake. In our quarterly town halls, we didn't just celebrate business wins. We acknowledged personal ones — someone had run a marathon, someone had got married, someone had a new baby. Recent starter or ten-year veteran — didn't matter. It was their place too. Every year at Christmas, we made sure the partners were invited. Because those partners are the ones our people go home to every night. They hear about the firm — in a good way or a bad way, depending on what's going on. When the partners came, they met the people. The bond grew in both directions. When COVID hit and Melbourne locked down, the moments just changed shape. A handful of us — leaders included — drove to people's homes. City, suburbs, regional. Each stop: a chef's hat, an apron, a recipe, and the ingredients. The idea was to bake the same cake at home, then get on a call and eat it together. When restrictions lifted, we picked up where we left off. We still do. None of this was expensive. None of it was complicated. But those moments stuck. They're still talked about by people who left years ago. Chip and Dan Heath were right. It's not the sustained effort that forms culture. It's the peaks — the moments that say: you matter, you belong, we see you. What moments are you creating intentionally? #Leadership #Culture #FounderLeadership #ProfessionalServices #BusinessGrowth

A cyber incident that threatens the secure operation of the power system does not respect organisational boundaries, and the response to it cannot either - it runs across asset owners, market operators, Commonwealth agencies, and state energy and emergency management arrangements that were never designed with cyber in mind. Australia's energy sector spent three years testing exactly that. The TRIDENT series ran from 2024 to 2026, evolving from short scenario-based tabletops into a three-day, multi-jurisdictional functional exercise. TRIDENT III brought together critical electricity and gas organisations across every state and territory, with every participant hands-on-keyboard against a live scenario spanning the lead-up, response and recovery phases of an incident. This session covers what it takes to build that capability at sector scale: designing scenarios credible to both IT and OT teams, running functional play safely in production-adjacent environments, activating formal coordination arrangements, and the harder problem of interfacing a cyber response with pre-existing energy emergency management structures. Bill Martino liked thisBill Martino liked thisI’m returning from my first Sales Kickoff at Palo Alto Networks more energized than ever about the Idira team and platform! We are at a critical inflection point for cybersecurity, and identity plays a central role: - Machine identities already outnumber humans by more than 100 to 1 - The adoption of AI agents is set to exponentially expand the disparity - Identity is the largest attack surface, involved in 90% of the breaches We cannot Secure the Frontier without securing every identity, human, machine and agentic. That is our mission for the Idira Identity Security platform. After dozens of conversations, one thing is certain. The Idira team is fully equipped to be the identity security partner organizations need at this pivotal moment. A big congratulations to Daniel Campbell on organizing this amazing week, and to David McFarland and the entire Idira North America team! Let’s go!

New Zealand’s Cyber Security Strategy 2026–2030, released in February 2026 by the New Zealand Government, outlines a national approach to strengthening resilience against cyber threats. The strategy focuses on four key objectives: Understand, Prevent & Prepare, Respond, and Partner. At its core, the strategy highlights the importance of awareness, preparedness, and collaboration in managing #cyber_risk across organizations. But in today’s threat landscape, #visibility alone is not enough. To manage risk effectively, organisations must understand not only what exists in their environment but which assets matter most to the business. Without that context, overlooked systems and blind spots can give attackers an advantage. A strong cyber risk strategy starts with knowing which assets matter most. By allowing organisations to designate a subset of assets that are most critical to their operations, security teams can bring greater clarity to attack surface management. This helps create a shared understanding of the systems that require the highest level of protection and attention. What is considered “critical” can vary significantly across industries. For example, it may include HVAC and building management systems in #education, clinical and communication systems in #healthcare, or payroll and point of sale systems in #hospitality. By identifying and prioritising these assets, organisations can strengthen incident response planning, improve recovery readiness, and take a more focused, risk based approach to cyber #resilience. #sophos https://lnkd.in/ewXjg3YE

Kordia’s cyber security report has now been published. One of the biggest messages from the report is that AI misuse inside organisations is becoming a serious cyber risk. The report highlights that AI is already contributing to real-world incidents, with 14% of businesses affected by a cyber incident linked to AI vulnerability or misuse. AI is helping attackers move faster and operate at greater scale. This includes AI-assisted phishing, deepfakes, automated reconnaissance, exploit development, credential harvesting, and data exfiltration. Another key concern is that many organisations still do not have strong enough governance and controls in place to manage AI risk properly. #AI #AIExposure #Governance #BusinessRisk #CTEM #kordia
