🧵 Things I wish someone told me about Bitcoin in 2009
Been thinking about this a lot lately.
Here’s what I got wrong early on — and why it changed how I see time, value, and money itself:
1919. Five men in a room set the price of gold for the world.
Twice daily. For 96 years.
Bitcoin's price is set by millions of people simultaneously.
Nobody is in the room.
That's the first honest price gold ever had.
Yesterday was the 1-year anniversary of Bitcoin's ATH , $126,198.
I didn't mention it to anyone.
The anniversary of a price peak isn't the thing worth remembering.
The argument held. The price moved.
Nobody who wasn't paying attention noticed.
They never do.
George texted at 11pm. Screenshot. 30%. No words.
Senate votes tomorrow on whether to even debate the Clarity Act. 60 votes. They have 51.
He sent me a number in 2021 too. And 2022.
The coins were still there every morning after.
Tomorrow won't be different.
In every Bitcoin cycle the people who sold at the bottom say the same thing at the top:
I knew it would recover. I just needed the liquidity.
They didn't know.
They doubted.
The doubt cost them exactly what patience would have earned.
